Strange Traffic Patterns - Any thoughts?

Hey, everyone...
My name is Ilya and I'm running my own music-related blog:
beautifulnoise.wordpress.com/
I noticed a strange pattern in traffic - usually, I'm getting about 200 visitors a day, but on a last week of a month traffic usually goes up to 500/600 and it stays that way for a couple of days.
Then the whole thing repeats itself - in the beginning of the month amount of visitors goes back to 100/200 people a day and then it inevitably grows at some point and then goes down again.
Any idea on what's going on here or how I can retain those 500/600 visitors?
:-)

That's a new one to me.
I've been tracking traffic for several years now, and there are a few patterns: nowhere near as strong as yours. For example, there's a daily and weekly pattern that hints that many of my visitors use their employer's Internet connection. (Which may increase productivity - another topic.)
There are annual ones, too: a sort of hill (too wide to be a spike) in Spring, a noticeable dip in summer.
Something that dramatic, and monthly, I've no clue.
I checked out "I Heart Noise
Illustrated Encyclopedia of Audio Terrorism / Left Of The Dial"
- maybe there's something in your content that encourages that sort of viewing. I couldn't see it, myself. ("I Heart Noise" - an attention-getting title, BTW)
Maybe some service that uses viewer-like bots routinely visits?
As to retaining the monthly visitors - no clue. Best wishes, discovering who they are. -

If you are a member of entrecard this can cause a spike in hits. If one of your posts is submitted to reddit, Digg. mixx or stumbleupon this can also cause a spike in hits. However, those don't suggest a monthly pattern. If you either belong to or your posts are being picked up by some type of site that accumulates post titles on specific topics and publishes a list of the same once monthly that could explain the pattern.
