   You need a reliable client. Freelancing is always going to be uncertain at first, and the speed at which you get paid will vary. Make it your first priority to find an anchor client--someone you know will pay reliably and feed you steady work. This might not be your most exciting job at the outset, but it will give you the breathing room to explore what you want to do and not have to cut your rates or scramble to take every job that you can possibly get just to get the cash flow rolling.       I realized after responding that you didn't tell us what kind of freelancing you wanted to do; I assumed you were a writer because...well, I don't know. I guess because you're a blogger and for ME, freelancing means writing. But there are a lot of other freelance careers out there. Which one are you building?
