Do you experience a decline in activity on your blog on Sundays? Through most of last week, I was averaging between 50-80 visitors a day. Yesterday, I had 8. So, after getting drunk, I started thinking...do others experience this?

While I mix myself another, can you share your thoughts on this?

(And, if you'd like to encourage several thousand of your friends to visit my blog every Sunday, so I don't destroy my liver, that would be fine, too.)

    Step away from the stats.....

Unlike masturbation this activity may actually cause blindness.

Part of the problem, for me, is that one of the reasons my second book was passed on by a large publisher, even though they loved it, was that I didn't have an established "author platform", and one of the things mentioned was not having a huge blog following.

I agree with you, though...one can go insane from obsessing too much.

Staring at stats aint going to get you visitors. I think it must be hard to have that pressure on you, knowing that you could have got a book published, but that is what held it back.

Actively engaging with other bloggers is always good, not just on here, because folks want their shit to be read too.

ok, hairy palms, the answer to your question is yes. Saturday and Sunday will more likely be your slowest days. When I started I made the assumption that the weekend would actually be the highest count but it is not. After many discussions I found many bloggers get on their computers after work. They either spend time with their families on the weekend or they or writing.

Ok, you may resume your activity now.

What I expected was that a different group of visitors might be on over the weekend. But I suspect you're right about their habits.

The first year I had my book published, I had a mass amount of visitors and gained many readers for the first two years. After that, my blog took a decline and this past week, there was an influx of visitors that went beyond the norm---as if my writing was reviewed somewhere, which has happened in the past, but I couldn't get a referral address from the sitemeter which drove me crazy.

Sunday traffic is always slower, because most people are spending time with their families, etc. I find the most traffic is mid-to late week.

Yes, staring at stats will make you go crazy!

It's usually lower on the weekends. Usually my Saturdays are slower than Sundays, though.

I'd hate to see how you'd respond on a day with no blog traffic. Keep all sharp objects and medications locked away. ok?

I give myself a break on weekends. I don't even post on weekends--especially anything I really want people to see.

During the week I write blogs and comment like crazy on other blogs. Taking the weekends off is a needed break!

      I feel guilty when I don't post.

I do too. LOL. I know what you mean. That's why I try very hard to have a Monday thru Friday post. Maybe on weekends do something lighter? That way if your traffic is slower your usual readers aren't missing anything important.

Sunday's are reserved for the family, church, sports and preparing a slow Monday.
