I am delighted to announce that my webcam is back online, pointed in the right direction.

Just in time for viewing the Ash Street Project, up close and personal.

A question for webcammers - how do you deal with major glitches? Like what I had last week, when the webcam's computer had a psychotic break.

I went to a backup in another room, with a (very unsatisfactory) view out another window, and lived with that until the main computer was back from therapy.

I'll bet there are other approaches.

Here's the sort of picture I'm dealing with today:

Not bad quality - or am I kidding myself?

Not bad quality, but I still don't get it. What's the point, other than for your own amusement?

By the way, you say you live in a small town, but this view could be of a city too. Only things missing are a sidewalk on your side of the street and cars parked on the road. But some more exclusive urban neighborhoods are missing those things too.

      Good questions.

And, I don't have any answers. Yet. So far, I've been thinking more of technical quality than interest.

Wait a month or two: There's a sidewalk coming, much to the dismay of some of my neighbors.

      Thanks for the thought-starters.

Good point, also, about the small town/city distinction. On the scale shown in this photo, there isn't all that much. Apart from air quality and some other factors that don't photograph well.
