In your opinion, what is the best tattoo location for a woman? I would like to be able to see the tattoo myself, but I want to be able to cover it easily for my job, but I also want to be sexy (not trashy, there's a fine line in women's tattooing). Thoughts...

I suppose it depends on what part of your body you consider sexy, as well as, would you like a tattoo in that area.

If you want to see it yourself, that's a toughie. I suppose the only place is the hip area you mention. I personally would consider lower back or shoulder blade, but of course I have my shoulder blade tattooed already.
I like not seeing it, after 13 years I still haven't gotten bored with it.
Apparently the shoulder blade is one of the most painful areas apart from the stomach, but it wasn't bad at all. But the thought of tattooing ribs.... It does sound pretty bad pain wise!! -
I have six strategically placed so they are easily covered for my job (accountant). One on my ankle, three on my pelvis, one on my lower back (not a tramp stamp, much too big to be considered that LOL) and one between my shoulder blades. Ideally, I'd get on on the inside of my wrist, covered at work with a large bangle bracelet or a watch.
Seriously consider not only the location, but the tattoo itself. In ten years, you don't want to regret getting that tazmanian devil or college mascot. My tattoo's identify who I am - they are not a momento of a time in my life. -

I have 4 tattoos and can cover them up if i wanted apart from when i have a bikini on! lol I have 1 that goes from my neck to about half way down my spine, 1 at the bottom of my back, 1 at the very bottom of my stomach (just above my knickerline) and 1 on my hip. I don't regret any of them and still love them all. I will probs keep adding more aswell, I just like the feeling of being tattooed haha strange...i know.

I have one on my upper back just below my neck and it is more visible than I thought it would be and one one my lower leg. I am really getting into quote tattoos or words with that have profound meaning for me.
The middle back shoulder blade can be covered for work. The back is a nice big canvas for art

I have a Scorpion tattoo on each hip. The oldest one (acquired in the 1970's) looks less like a Scorpion and more like one of Garfield's spiders--after a good whack with a newspaper. The other (acquired during Navy service) is still a gorgeous rendition.
Before you get a tattoo, realize that your body WILL change as you get older, even if you stay in shape. Therefore, any tattoo you choose to get WILL change as your body changes. Inks will fade, shapes will distort. Whatever pattern you choose, get one that will compliment your body's natural aging processes.
Realize, too, that as you mature you outlook on life will probably change. If so, will your tattoo be acceptable then? For what it's worth, if I had it to do over, I would not get any tattoos.
