Topics: twitter test, using twitter
I did a test recently to see how far a tweet would go through the Twittersphere.
I was wondering who is actually paying attention to tweets and if they clicked on any of the short URLs provided.
Check out the results here:

This experiment sucks. Tweeting something about print ads to 798 people isn't gonna get good results for two reasons.
1. These tweeple probably don't care about print ads.
2. Thats just boring.
I think they are on to something with the shelf life, of course a good tweet lives much longer than 6 retweets.
Don't get me wrong Twitter sucks, but this experiment isn't why -
Pear, in your post comments you say,

I just found a great post by Brian Solis on “Twitter: Acquisition vs. Retention” and how only 40% of new Twitter users stick with it, and the other 60% never come back."
I find it difficult to believe that their retention rate is that high. Furthermore, it would be interesting to see how frequently the 40% who come back, come back. -
TonyB - well, that's Nielsen for ya....not ever "really sure" about their numbers. Quantcast.com tells a similar story on traffic. According to them, only 1% of the users are "addicts" and make up 35% of the visits. 27% of the users are "regular" and make up 41% of the visits, and yet 72% of the users are "passer-by's", making up 24 of the visits.
Compare this to Facebook which has 12% "addicts" which account for a whopping 66% of the total visits.
Perhaps Twitter is at or near a critical stage where it either gains traction among users, or it falls by the wayside... -

Oh I don’t know, just have to many communities to keep up with. Though it’s still on the top 3
But I do have to say its much better then most.
Can you just imagine what their hosting servers cost to run that load of info. ?
Constant updates and images and everything else going on at the same time?? I wish I could see that bill of theirs. lol -
I think Google should buy us out. lol
Value to them would be a heck of a lot of bright peoples original content and profiles of where it’s coming from. Isn’t that what Google eats and needs to continue to grow.
The more feed that divinity gets, the stronger the followers follow and praise him.
And, twitter keeps on tweeting.
