Those of you who know me, know I love commercials and advertising, and I try not to shamelessly plug my links.

But this one I have to share with you guys. I just love it, the song in the commercial is what really got me, The Seeds, "Can't Seem To Make You Mine"

I'd love to know what you guys think of the newest Axe Bullet commercial. You have to watch to the end ladies - thats the best part.

    lol...you're right...I loved it.
    I can't believe I didn't see that coming...but I didn't.
    1. Sylvia
I think I've watched it 500 times today. I love that song!!
    2. Sylvia
      I didn't either.
  2. cooper
I have always thought AXE commercials were rather pathetic. I hate seeing woman portrayed that way all the time.
    1. Sylvia
I'm a woman and it doesn't bother me to the point that I would call it pathetic.
It works that's why these commercials are so successful.
Just for the record, if you watched the commercial then you would know that the women pull the reverse on the man in this commercial.
    2. suburbqueen
@cooper: I don't like seeing women portrayed like that either, but as long as they are willing to do it, things won't change.

@sylvia: Now I'm curious and off to check it out.

Sylvia your stuff is great so plug away girl!

We featured you at flowers today - THAT camel ad. LOL.
    1. Sylvia
Thank you so much for that Flowers!
I am working on a special thank you to post on my blog for you.
  4. kaybday
Love it--thanks for sharing this. We women got our turn at the end!--best, Kay
    1. Sylvia
Kay, exactly why I loved it so much too.

Obviously it works, the whole ad game is a sad testament to our society in my opinion. It's just an opinion and it doesn't need to be debated. Punditry works too but I would prefer the news to be what it was like in my parents day "real news" not affected by networks.

I only needed to see a woman walking around in a grocery store in a bikini to know I didn't have to go any further. Doesn't really matter what the end is.

suburbanqueen: as long as people buy the stuff it won't change, and people will fall for anything. Like spraying on this stuff will get you the girl with fake breasts who walks around in a bikini or a cute guy...lordy.

That is what is so great about life, we are all allowed out own opinions.
    1. Sylvia
      wow....it's just a bikini.

I wonder how many people have a hard time going to the beach.
  6. cooper
Really I know it's just a bikini but the overall tone of the ad is sexual fine ,except the target market for that stuff is and always has been teens, fairly young teens too, by college most people laugh at that stuff but young teens take it to heart.
    1. Sylvia
      Interesting.

I'm thinking the mindset won't change too soon. Been around since we were slogging around in animal skins and gathering up nuts/berries for lunch. Social issues aside, I think it's a really well-done spot. The subtle way he applies the Axe, the music, the glance he gives one of the girls, sort of an 'oh, well' look--etc. My college kid just watched it and thought it was funny. And like Sylvia and me, she loved the twist at end. --Kay (who is too old for young guy but still likes to look!)
    1. Sylvia
we are never too old to look ;o)
  8. cooper
Yes. It's all very telling. Why ads like that are so popular in our society is
because people are so willing to settle for the mindset. It's just a pet peeve of mine.
    1. Sylvia
Cooper, I have to respect your opinion. I didn't mean for this to turn into a problem with society isue".

I think we could learn a lot from the European culture when it comes to issues like this.
  9. globalgirl
The ad was clever but nonetheless degrading.

    I agree with Cooper.
    1. Sylvia
      Degrading??

Wow....you show me any 16-20 year old young man who doesn't have the very same thoughts that the guy in this commercial has.

I have a 15 year old son, and I don't have to have a conversation with him about it, to notice when he is admiring a young lady who he finds attractive, and I can assure you he isn't wondering how she did on her Science exam!

That is not degrading...that is boys being boys.
  10. cooper
I think we just need to respect each others opinions on this.I gave mine. I didn't expect it to be anything but that,an opinion. It's started turning in to a long thread when others don't like the opinion because it differs from theirs.

I have not only been to but lived briefly in a few places in Europe, their whole attitude on sexuality is different, you couple these types of ads with the extreme double standard prevalent in this country( USA) and it is harmful -imo.
"Boys being boys" strikes little bit of a chord with me due to the fact that most ads show abnormal looking females, partially undressed acting like the whole world revolves around the "I'm a male model" type of guy, and it leans to the whole "boys will be boys" but girls must be ladies attitude.

Yes, it is normal for teens to be curious and it is even normal for teens to have sex, once they have learned what real life is, what real girls look like and that girls who walk around in bikini's looking like they are fresh out of a concentration camp is not the norm, once they learn to be interested in the fact that maybe that girl is pretty good in science and possible he could learn something from her that doesn't revolve around his penis.

I see nothing wrong with allowing everyone to express their own opinion on a subject. What I find so often here is people post things they think others will like and when other opinions are offered then people are always upset wishing they hadn't started a thread. I see no reason to say either of our opinions are less valid they are just our own opinions, and that is what is great about the internet it allows you to see how others think.
    1. Sylvia
I hope you don't think I'm upset, I'm not at all....I thought we were sharing our opinions. I respect how you feel about it.
  11. offendedblogger
    Meh.

I was hoping the end would have him wearing the bra and panties and maybe a nipple or belly ring or something.

    I am thoroughly disappointed.
    1. Sylvia
I'll find a better one for you Chelle.
  12. Sylvia
    That's not a bad idea
  13. Fashionisto
    checked it out, cool
kinda reminds me of the " Boom Chiki Wa Wa" commercials for that deodarant, i love those, do you know what im talking about?
    1. Sylvia
Oh yes, I know that one well.

My hubby enjoys my Boom Chika Wa Wa imitation.
By the way, have you talked to him about getting me that car yet?
  14. Fashionisto
PS um... i think the "women being portrayed that way" issue is not an issue, because the man was in underwear in the end anyway. And please, it's a commercial for a man's deodarant, the target audience is men between the ages of 16-35.
    1. Sylvia
      ...and I liked em.....lol
  15. Fashionisto
"young teens take it to heart".... wow, did we watch the same commercial, did some of you watch a pedophilic beatiality commercial while i saw a deodarant commercial?
    1. Sylvia
Fashionisto, thank you for adding your comment. I was starting to think there was something wrong with me for thinking this was great.
  16. Fashionisto
people just look for a reason to regurgitate the thoughts on insecure conservatives, i came across a blog the other day(fashion) where the author showed a video on animal cruelty and then wrote "if any of you have watched this and have not changed the way they think, your heartless and get out of my blog"..
..wait a minute, the guy had a post featuring leather belts and wool jackets, it was so hypocritical
  17. BlogEntrepreneur
It never fails to amaze me how neurotic and tightly wrapped some people can be. I will never understand it and really am kind of sick of it.

Wrapped too tight, complaining about every little thing.

I thought it was hilarious...but then again....I actually have a sense of humor. These appear to be optional these days.

    :-)

I must admit that this was the best one yet! I love commercials too. However, I do agree that I don't want my preteen daughter or young sons to see it.
