I use wordpress as primary and blogger as backup ..

If you host your own WordPress hosting, you can do a lot more ..
  2. PrettyLady
My vote would have to go to Wordpress.
  3. jessucanoel
I love wordpress. i host my own and it's really easy to use and totally customizable.
  4. OreoMadness
    i vote for blogger.
  5. willow
i've only ever used blogger. I hear wordpress has some better features, but I'm pretty much entrenched with blogger now so I doubt I'd bother moving just to check it out Consider my default vote = blogger
  6. Enlight
I like blogger, although I have not tried wordpress. I am very happy with blogger and not planning on changing services.

    Blogger: 3 Votes
    Wordpress: 3 Votes

    Till Now :-)

    Textpattern

though I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who isn't technically minded.
  9. Anniepooh
Only ever been with blogger, so I would imagine I don't count!
  10. jungl
    I luv wordpress!

    Much to learn tho.
  11. GFG
    Blogger for sure...
Wordpress ... if you dont pay you dont get much ...
    1. Mouseclone
This is not true.. I don't pay but then again I host my own. If that is the pay that you are refering to then spend the 10$ a month for a hosting account you can even get them cheaper.
  12. Aradil
I just love WordPress, but then I host my own.
Used blogger before and it was OK.

However, my vote goes to WP!
  13. lyndoman
Blogger is for renters, Wordpress on your own website are for owners.

Personally I would rather own than rent.

Blogger is simply ridiculous. If you want to be taken seriously you get a serious system.
  14. elfreakz
    i vote for WORDPRESS!

I've been on Blogger for four years - originally somewhat disadvantaged as a Mac-user. However, Blogger has kept upgrading its application and now is an effortless home base. The grass is always greener - until you get there. I'm staying put.

Whether you publish with Penguin or Random House, Blogger or Wordpress...it is the content that matters!
    1. Mauro
      Great opinions :-)

      Let's have some more???

Let's say something fellows... tell me, tell me: Blogger or Wordpress?
  16. JayNeely
I'll second Textpattern. Much better than Wordpress. But like Wordpress, it's for owners, not renters, as lyndoman put it. No one is going to take someone using Blogger seriously.

    Wordpress!
  18. m38967
mauro: are you tech savvy? are you familiar with blog software and html? if not, i would stick with blogger, if you know a little bit of tech, then go for wordpress. my two cents. or you can always just try both and see which you like.
    1. Mauro
I know somethings about tech and html.
I'm still in blogger but i've been thinking about make some changes.
That's why i'm asking expert opinions
  19. PilotJohn
Wordpress! I love customizing and doing my own stuff with it!
  20. maclsj19
I've never used Wordpress so all I can comment on is Blogger I must say I really do like the Blogger layout and I can post by e-mail which is great given I'm moving and so will be without regular internet access for a while. Any type of blogging site tends to be blocked on library computers but e-mail isn't so I can happily e-mail in my blogs with no worries
  21. snowprincess
    WORDPRESS!!!

I used to have a blogger blog for to years. So trust me! Wordpress is better coz you can install plugins.
  22. sanktjohanser
I've used both and I vote Wordpress hands down, but.. I would never recommend it to my mom. It really just depends on what your needs are. If you're unfamiliar with blogging and want to get a feel for it then go with blogger. Switching over is easy if you find you don't like it.
  23. Blackysky
    the answer is simple :
you don't want to pay for hosting: choose blogger why because you can add stuff easily like ad or widget or twick your theme
if you want to pay to host your blog choose wordpress why ? you can do what ever you want and the plugin community is insane
  24. szstevo
WordPress, without question. Blogger is for renters.
  25. markcutler
If you have a blog on blogger is it easu to switch it over to wordpress?
  26. Blackysky
of course you can swith you can always import export your posts....
  27. tetsujin
I use serendipity on my own server ^_^

I'm comfortable with Blogger though the advantages of WP are nice (if you pay). I am not that tech savy so I hesitate. What bugs me is that I cannot easily transfer to my own host as one is forced to switch to Classic template then. Does anyone know a solution?
  29. zawadi
I use Blogger, but I really like wordpress and have a blog there. I haven't started blogging on it yet, just saved it for myself.
I am wondering, If I get a blog on wordpress.com, and eventually want to have it changed to my own domain, could I do this? Transfer the blog over from Wordpress.com?
  30. asiatvforum
I vote for wordpress. The features are easy to use and quite comprehensive.
  31. cotinine
    WordPress, all the way.
  32. Kiwipulse
I'm using wordpress, but I will up for drupal when they gonna have a stable version.
  33. Mypersonalblog
    Bravo Blogger!!!
  34. ashlesha
Blogger, because I find it easy.
  35. F4bloggers
Wordpress. If you are doing serious blogging, WP is more suitable. But for casual blogging or to pass the time, blogger is sufficient.
  36. libdrone
I vote for Blogger. My techie friends keep telling me how easy Word Press is, but I did try it and I found the learning curve steep. Frankly I think the techno snobs who say 'no one will ever take you seriously if your blog is hosted on blogger' are full of shit.

No one will (or should) take you seriously unless you consistently publish quality, useful content. A reasonably well implemented blogspot template with great content beats an exceptionally designed and largely content-free WordPress blog every time. imho.
    1. Mouseclone
I have to agree. Although you miss out on a lot of PPP type things if you do not own. Besides I love having the control. But if you learned on a MAC Windows is crap, and MACs are crap if you learned on Windows, switch to Linux from either and you are God over all PCs.

    Blogger.com if:
If your only one blog is on narrow set of topics, or
You want to run ad, but don't want to pay any $, or
You are not technically minded, but want to blog and blog, or

    WordPress.com if:
Your blog have more topics which span thousand posts.
You don't like money, and so you don't pay them either.
You have absolutely no, or little technical knowledge.

    Self hosted WordPress if:
You want to download and host it by your self.
You want total control of what you display.
You want advertisement as much as you can.
You want to set up as many sub-blogs as you want.
You want to name your blog whatever you want, no "Blog name already taken" message.
You have enough technical knowledge to deal with a CMS.
    ...
You can afford to struggle to rank yourself.
You can afford to pay for hosting and advertising your blog.
    You can...

Woaah! too much... maybe I should list all the "you want" and "you can" in another post of mine.

My vote goes to Self hosted WORDPRESS as I'm using it myself too... and struggling...
  38. Mouseclone
My vote is for self hosting WordPress right now. I have tried Drupal, but it is more of a CMS and not a blog. Though you can set it up as a blog. I will have to play around with it more but we shale see what the future holds for my wordpress sites.

Definitely wordpress for me. It is easy, powerful and extremely flexible. Plus if this is going to be your living, you better move to a hosted wordpress platform than to leave your rice bowl at someone else's mercy(blogger).

    I did a post before on the same topic, which pretty much says it all;

    I use and like blogger!
  41. Mauro
Ohhh I forgot to tell... I'm using Wordpress now
    It's really great!

    But i liked Blogger to!
  42. BlogBadly
I've tried Blogger and it was easy to use but my vote goes to WordPress. It's very customizable and very efficient.
  43. danmesser
My start was on WP but, because I didn't want to pay for hosting yet, I moved to blogger. Otherwise, I agree there are a lot more goodies on WP. When the time will come, I'll switch back
At the moment, I guess my vote should go to blogger... since I'm using it!
