Is the large number of messages I get like this
"I visited your site. It's very nice. I had clicked on your ads. I hope you do the same. (CRAPPY SCRAPING BARELY ENGLISH BLOG) please keep in touch. development together. thanks a lot!"
Of course this user doesn't show on my Recent visitor list and I don't have ads on my primary blog.
Sadly the number of these types of users now seems to exceed 'proper' bloggers on here.

And while I'm ranting these users all have the same type of profile. A young female with a picture of a model for their avatar, their blog is about SEO, Blogging, Making Money, or a type of product.
Sadly this comments (which are sent out in bulk) seem to work, As they get the following replies.
"Thanks...visited yours too...sure...by"
"I visited your site... I also clicked on your ads. thanks "
"THANK U ,,CHECKING IN WITH ALL WEBSIES BE LOOKING ..CREATE"
"Thanks, I did what you want me to do. have a good day."
And these users have hundreds of friends.-
The spam button is your friend. Keep in mind that unlike other directories and networks in order to get in you have to not be obvious spam or porn, have a minimum of 5 posts, with a meta-tag link back or widget for verification... once a URL is banned from our system it can't be re-submitted so its a pain in the rear for a user to go through the process of creating a new blog, putting 5 new posts up, signing up again, putting the widget on there and waiting 2 days to be approved just to spam a handful of bloggers. There are easier ways to spam bloggers and eventually they give up.
Use the spam button in your emails or shoutboxes as soon as you can so that the user can be removed and not bother other users.

This is Source Blogger.
Most of the comments stem from those who have not actually ever visited your site. But some do.
You don't have to struggle with the "moral obligation" of reciprocating the favor. When you see a comment of that nature, click the "spam" option beneath the comment and move on.
Ad networks have a way of detecting and punishing TOS Click Violators - it's not my job, nor my focus in participating in the Blog Catalog forums. You could spend countless hours battling spam on Facebook, Twitter, Blog Catalog, Emails, etc... if that's what you want.
What I have noticed is a bump in my PPC earnings since I joined Blog Catalog.
So, I can't be TOO upset. Can I? -
(shrugs)
Hit the block or spam buttons. Part of the price we pay for an open society with free speech is the relentless push of marketers. But really, how much money are these spammer scammers eking out of their blogs? They might make more money washing windows or selling oranges at traffic lights ... and at least these are more honest attempts of making a buck! -

About the "ad" syndrome: I thought that these people meant "adds" and didn't know how to spell, since some of them are clearly illiterate — and I don't have any ads on my site. I've been deleting these messages, but it ALMOST makes me bitter.
