Do you think the door test is a good way to judge the relative selfishness of a woman when dating?

Is that when you slam their head in the door to make them shut up?

The one test alone, no. Combined with many other selfishness tests that she fails, yes.

    What is the door test?

It's a simple test when you start dating a girl. When you pick her up you bring her over to the vehicle and open the passenger door for her, let her get in and close the door. Then slowly walk around the back of the car and look through the rear window and wait for truth to emerge.

Sorry, but that last bit threw me. What about truth's emergence? Try once more, please.

that makes no sense. Why would you stare at her through the back window?

Are you seeing if she unties her hands, and manages to escape? Are you trying to tell if some one driving behind you will notice that you kidnapped her? You are sick.

Maybe it's to see whether she'll make an escape or not as one walks to the driver's side.

Yea I don't get it either

The only thing I can guess is that he's waiting to see whether she reaches over and unlocks his door, but I'm not sure why you'd need to stand at the back of the car to observe that...you'd find out when you got there.

As in her standing by the closed door, patiently waiting for you to open it for her, while she pretends not to notice your unenthusiastic approach?

Or, the door is always open and anytime you want to leave, then leave?
  6. HollytheHousewife
    Well I don't see how that's selfish.

Maybe the door test is where you put a finger and crash it by the use of swing door!

Oh apparently he was watching some movies

Movies ... you can learn anything and everything from them!

I learned everything I know from "White Men Can't Jump" and "Scarface"

I fail to see how being accustomed to gentlemanly behaviors is selfish. Quite frankly if a man took me out and made a rush to get in the drivers side and not at least try to be gentlemanly about opening the door, I would assume he was not raised properly, and had little interest in me. That impression would stick and they would not get a second date.
    1. NatetheGrate
They? They wouldn't get a second date? How many guys are you going out with at one time?
    2. ArsenicCookies
I was using it in the following context (Webster's dictionary, third definition): A group of people or objects previously mentioned; A single person, previously mentioned in the same reference

Hmmm. It occurs to me that if you start dating with the intention of disqualifying all applicants, perhaps you aren't ready for marriage, in which case, why date?

I don't think the "door test" is useful at all. I have great manners, but I wouldn't know the other door was locked as well, or I wouldn't think about it. I would unlock the door if I saw him try to open the door and it was locked.
