The Easy Way To Increase Traffic To Your Blog

I wonder why bloggers complain about not getting traffic but no one is really doing anything about it. For instance, being a guest author on another blog is a sure fire way to increase traffic to your blog as well as inviting other bloggers to post on your blog thus increasing readers interest in your blog. I wonder why noone is doing this. I had previously asked if anyone wanted to be a guest author on some of my blogs and no one responded. Why is it? Why is no one taking an opportunity to promote their blogs on other blogs?

Or if you like, the BlogCatalog blog is open to member posts. You'll get a bunch of PR and a link to your site. www.blogcatalog.com/discuss/entry/new-bc-blog-design-guest-bloggers-needed

maybe because they would rather spend all their effort improving their blogs than guest author in someone elses blogs.

what's the point to keep improving your blog if all you get is three uniques per day? being a guest can potentially bring your link in front of hundreds subscribers of another blog, and yes, your guest post has to be good for those visitors to click on your link; yes, your blog content has to be good for them to return. But unless you promote your blog, you aren't gonna get many visitors.
For example, I have substantial base of regular subscribers who come back every time I write a new post. Posting on my blog is a way to get your link in front of my entire subscriber base, why no one does it is beyond me. Same goes for every other blogger. Posting on another blog is a way to bring your name in front of other blog's subscribers let alone random search engine visitors -
I think it depends on the type of content and traffic. Although I don't do much on my PetLvr .... I could be 1000% more successful following @earthlingorgeous' advice fixing my archives and content to be more search engine friendly than guest posting around the net to drive traffic towards PetLvr blog.

Who says you can't do both?
I personally just think that if your blog is about you, the person or consultant or authority or expert ... maybe you should be guest posting everywhere and get your name out. However, it's not to bring traffic back to your site and I personally don't think it is a good traffic builder .. (but you may get backlinks which are always good). It's to promote you - the expert.
If your blog is about the content - work on improving the content. For me, this is the case for the PetLvr blog. I'm not a pet expert at all - but, I have over 3300 articles in my archives.

It is a good idea to have/exchange guest posts. I'd have contributed for your blogs, but unfortunately, none matches my area of interest (personal development).
BTW. you have about a dozen blogs. How do you manage these?-
See that's exactly why it's better to concentrate on your own blog than guest blog or find some guest bloggers.
Why build so many blogs you can't barely manage and find some other people to put content into it. I would rather have one main blog that I can concentrate on than have a dozen that I can't barely keep up.
If you are for traffic you should also have quality post not just anything you think of and create a new blog every time a new idea pops out your head.

P.S. if all you're basically looking for free content then you might want to check out some of the e-zine sites. A lot of people contribute articles to the sites, and most of the time the articles can be re-posted on other sites as long as any links are intact. The rules are different from site to site. There are a bunch of them. I like ezine dot come the best but there are other good ones too. Content quality completely varies from really crappy to really great but if you look around I'm sure you can find some things worth posting.

The easiest way to get traffic is to post and focus on quality, that's it. People will come. PR will increase. Then visibility in search engine will arrive, and that will be the good spiral.
All the other tools like Blogexplosion and Entrecard (that I have tested I must say) are just helping to boost on the short term, but you don't build a solid community on the mid/long term.

it's a good idea really... win win situation.
i believe it's fear that readers may pay too much attention to
guest author's writing rather than the content of the owner of the blog!
i was invited to be guest author many months back, but was really busy with many official appointments, couldn't accede to the request. Am still pretty busy especially start of a new year!
yes, i fully endorse this recommendation...worth the try... to get a fair return of traffic!
cheers! -
10 "Knows" to get readers:
1.) Know the topics that webbers love. Top three -- gaming, blogging, and love+music+emo
2.) Know the keywords to use.
3.) Know where to put your blog. First stop is Google, next is BlogCatalog, next is Technorati.
4.) Know what to write. Don't just copy and paste from other blogs, that's LAME, and that's ILLEGAL. Plagiarism.
5.) Know how to write. Nobody reads blogs with improper grammar, punctuation, and accentuation.
6.) Know how to present what you write. Get rid of ads, all the clutters, and popups. We hate them, you and I.
7.) Know when to post. Keep your posts at a below 3 per 12 hours rate. That makes sure that new visitors see the posts before them.
8.) Know what to know. Lame phrase, but great value. Read this list of ten, and this criteria is solved.
9.) Know how to put interest in your posts. Elaborate, create, and demonstrate. Make sure that the readers get their minds exploring their creative imaginations. For example, make sure that readers drool over your post about lasagna.
10.) Know who reads your blog. Let it be geeks, lovers, homosexuals, attorneys, doctors. Target the posts on the vast majority of your readers, to make sure that they keep on coming back.
If you meet all these ten things, you would earn traffic in both organic (word-of-mouth and referral) and synthetic (marketing, SEO, ads) ways. -
Hi,
I have a blog on technology stuff and I am getting great traffic from blogcatalog and others. I fully agree with Elaine that writing guest posts is a great way to get visitors and moreover a backlink to your site. Remember my friends, hard work definitely pays off.
You can let me know in case of any doubts.

One solution would be for you to create and host a blog carnival every now and then. Contact people who you think have the right kind of content and invite them to submit one of their articles. Also, make an announcement on BC that you are collecting articles.
The carnival blog will then show a short description of each article and links to each author's blog. Of course, you can put in links to your own blog's articles, too.
I started up one that I wanted to keep separate from my other blogs.
