I cannot find frozen peas!
Now, before you laugh and consider this a tempest in a teapot (or "storm in a teacup" as they say here) consider that not one of the four major supermarket chains here have frozen peas for sale. And I Googled "pea shortage" and discovered that in 2006 and 2008 there were "world wide" pea shortages!! (Seems the pea crops in South Africa, Australia and New Zealand all failed, and the pea crop in China was of poor quality).
Do you have frozen peas in your supermarket? Why do you think we are running out of peas? Is it global warming? Insect or mould infestation? A conspiracy?
Why do you think I can't get my hands on a bag of frozen peas?

I don't know. Perhaps there's none left in the stores because everyone decided to finally give peas a chance.
(Running away now.)

Last year, there was a food safety issue with tomatoes and no tomatoes were available for sale for at least a week. Tomatoes are one of my favorite food, so that totally sucked. There was also an extreme gas shortage here for a couple of weeks last year. I assumed the whole US was having a shortage, but oddly enough, it was just North Carolina and part of South Carolina. I never did figure out why only we had a shortage. A lot of people couldn't even go to work b/c they couldn't get gas.

I found a bag!!!
Woolworth's (not related to the dime store) is one of our premium shops here and they have a food store division. For only twice the cost of a bag of peas at our local Safeway clone, I was able to buy a bag of frozen peas today (they were out of peas two days ago). Imported from New Zealand, no less!
Yay! I got peas!! -
I betcha all the frozen peas are sitting in people's freezers waiting to become a bag for bruises and bumps.
