The Human Race A Virus?

Do you believe the human race is a virus?
According to the Global elite, that is their philosophy and that is what they want us to think.
Question:
Does the world have to see a dramatic drop in the human population in order to stay alive?
Or...
Is it possible that the human race has other options?
Will the world inevitably become over crowded, or do we have to potential for survive and colonize outside of our earth?

I believe that with any virus we have the abilty to mutate and evolve, so if the time comes and we are able to colonize outside of this planet, we won't be so quick to make the same mistakes. If the survival of our species is dependent on it, we will figure it out, eventually.

Hmm. I really admire viruses so forgive me if I am a little picky with your argument.
The jolly old virus is an odd thing because it is not technically alive. Because of that I could not support the notion of humanity as a virus.
I think a lot is made of global over population. The solution is pretty simple, share the wealth around. Developed Western countries have low birth rates or even falling birth rates. As the developing countries start to become more wealthy their demographics will change and birth rates will fall.
Oh here is my favorite virus the T4 phage. What a beauty.

Awesome little critter. I want one :-)
Scary looking mother, the perfect killing machine. Heck it even has a built-in lightbulb strapped to it's bum, so it can seek and destroy vermin in the darkest recesses.
Regarding the human race as a virus. It feels like we are regressing as a race. We live in this dumbed down society, where it's cool to be thick. Hardly a step in the right direction. Perhaps this is a sign of the times.
Not to worry, the Flying Spaghetti Monster will reign over us all. :-)))

Hey Polybore,
I think we have an agreement here.
I'm going to modify it a bit though... Don't "share the wealth", share the "Understanding of how to create wealth."
"Humanity as a virus" always struck me as silly. We're either God's creation or Nature's, depending on your view. We choose what we will be. The Global Elite is simply a bunch of power-hungry so and sos.
Overpopulation has a technological and political cure. Political because Western countries are perfectly happy to "share the wealth" as measured by trade and the billions of dollars sent into the poorer areas. It doesn't help for a variety of reasons, few of which are the fault of Western countries. Very little of that money makes it to the people.
Technologically we have the knowledge to feed everyone. As people see less need to have the large families, traditionally an asset, then populations pressures will dwindle. For political reasons that isn't going to happen for some time.-
I agree that knowledge to create wealth is very important. However it is worth considering the fact that the EU and the US both protect their markets from overseas competition.
I suppose the point I was trying to make vis a vis "share the wealth" is that developing countries are often denied access to the worlds richest markets ie the US and EU.

The reason I bring this up is because, I heard that they are showing movies in schools that teach that the human race is a virus, that over population is imminent, and that the population of the world must be controlled by whatever means.
Does that sound like Nazi Germany to anyone?
There are people in this world who are prepared, by any means, to lower the population of the Earth.
Population control some might say.
I believe we are not viruses, but a creation of the all mighty (whoever that may be) and that we have, not only the potential to re-colonize other planets (if need be), but also the know-how to bring balance to the world.
We have the technology to do this, if only our focus would shift from being Warmongers to focusing on helping the world and it’s occupants.
It is possible - I believe.
We are not viruses, but divine inheritors of Mother Earth. -

I think in some respects we can be viewed as a virus, but we do have free will and intelligence which should be our saving grace. We know that we are harming our environment with many chemicals from advancing our cultural and scientific knowledge but we also are trying to lessen our impact on our environment by taking a good look at our eco-footprint.
We all have the power to change this world for the better, its just a matter of if we decide to or not. -
Its not so much of an over population of the earth as it is a distribution of people. 50% of the worlds population inhabit 10% of its land mass. 75% inhabbit 20%. There is plenty of earth left to inhabit and human ingenuity has made places once thought un-livable thriving cities.
Also, I believe the greatest resource to serve people is people themselves. -
Hey all,
polybore - True enough, but that's changing slowly. I'm a big fan of showing people/countries how to get the wealth rather than giving them handouts, which never helps. Of course, if we're going to do that we should hold our end and give them access.
rbnstr08 - Sorry, but I don't believe in the Wrath of God. He gives us the choice and we can choose to step up or step down, something even we unbelievers should be able to agree with.
voodooKobra - Well said.
dlowe - Woot.
Your last line is perfect.
