The Hunt for Gollum - my review

Watched this movie online yesterday, and found it to be pretty decent.
For those who haven't heard of it, it's a Lord of the Rings fan produced film, 40 minutes in length and shot with a $3,000 budget.
Fan film + $3,000 budget usually equals razorblades and a warm bath, but this was surprisingly good.
Not Lord of the Rings good, but good nonetheless, certainly better than many films with 100 times the budget.
The acting was decent, though there really wasn't much of it - a pretty high percentage of it was footage of the Aragorn look-a-like trotting through the forest. It's worth watching even if only to see just how much their Aragorn looks like LOTR's Aragorn(Viggo Mortensen) in the right light.
As far as battle scenes go, they were far from the epic ones that made the LOTR movies so action-gasmic, but....still pretty decent.
The CGI is good - the landscapes are nice - the music is pretty good...so, all in all, a great job.
Long story short, a great value for your money (free).

Just a note...it was £3000 not $3000-
hmm very interesting; all of the American news articles cite it as $3,000, while the UK news articles all cite it as £3000. Even the articles linked to from www.thehuntforgollum.com seem to have this discrepancy.

well..it's an British production (I assume as it was all filmed here) so I'm guessing it's sterling.

I just watched it....oh dear. The costumes and the graphics and the music and the basic cinematography was really quite excellent considering....but the script was appalling! What a shame... completely ruined it for me! That and the rather comical talking sack...

I really didn't like their choice of the girl who played Arwen...or at least I assume it was supposed to be Arwen, since she was getting it on with Aragorn...
Just something about her was very, very not right. -
Was it because she wasn't Liv Tyler? -
Well I suppose that's part of it...
She just looked all wrong - very much so. -
That scene looked like a hardcore LotR fan wedding!

Mostly it was just her face. made me mad.
probably like how a certain member of BC feels when he shags a "club rat" and wakes up to find that she is really a 200 pound 5'1 elderly woman in the morning. -
