We all need balance in life and many of us are tilted too far in the serious side. What do you do to bring fun into your life, on purpose.

p.s. my latest blog entry I JUST finished is all about the importance of being silly. Writing this entry really boosted up my feel good hormones!

Being silly is absolutely vital. If it wasn't for silliness, I'd be Aileen Wuornos by now.

I agree that laughter and good humor tends to make us feel so much better.

Yes, be silly, but not out of turn! Or be prepared for it yourself!

You can ask: Is it a good time to be silly?

      (I feel silly today ;-) )

I wanted to write about being silly because, the scale is tipping the wrong way for me, I have a big issue in my life that is breaking my heart. I'm dealing with it in the healthy way...eeerr, correction ..most times :S

I need more silliness and fun in my life so stress doesn't consume me. I need more fun to offset the adult responsibilities in my life.

It really helps incredibly when coworkers can have a silly side that they bring out. This is especially true in high stress jobs. It is so much easier being around coworkers who have a sense of fun.

I have to be silly...I just have to. If you can't see the humor in things then what's the point? I had to make my blog so that I could express this fact about myself more constructively hehe. My blog is just plain silliness, all the time lol

I love being silly and I am still a serious sally when times call for it. It brings me great joy to be a goofball with my bf especially because he is normally all reserved around other people, with the almighty don't mess with me face. When we go grocery shopping, I sometimes start doing strange dance-like maneuvers to the random music that plays...it makes him smile while attempting to pretend he doesn't know me (in jest). Sometimes he joins me in the weirdo dance.

Other times I'll start talking to him in jibberish, making up words and sounds. We can't manage it for long in public because retraining the laughter becomes impossible after awhile.

But I am serious when I am working on something I need to get done, or when anyone that tries to step on some toes intentionally. I still maintain an aura of friendless in work places though, because I always enjoyed for clients to feel like I am approachable and easy to talk to. I've had co-workers that always had a black cloud over them..just makes the environment crabby for everyone around them.

Laughing keeps you young. If you have kids, they'll keep you laughing all the time.

But also just being able to see humor in any situation, especially stressful ones. People need to chill a bit and stop being so uptight.

you are sooooooooo right!!!! Ur right about kids to,just when ya think yov've seen or heard it all they do something else.

Couldn't agree more. One of the big things we created Fancyless.com for was being able to laugh and enjoy the satire and sarcasm of reviewing games and movies that are meant to be entertainment.

I will have to visit Fancyless.com

We had clown noses at our wedding and we had to see enough people wearing them in order for us to kiss. We did this instead of the typical clanging of the glasses!

Oh I love that idea!!! That's soooo cute

With three children under age 8, I will admit, I am deeply in touch with my silly side. It's one way I can share their space. Besides, laughter is a great way to keep the atmosphere around here joyful.

And that's the way we want life to be -- joyful!

I'm about 7 on a good day-- things strike me funny/silly all the time. It's what makes the daily grind tolerable.

At my former job, I would occasionally play harmless practical jokes on my coworkers. The place was so tense, it would help take the edge off some otherwise rigid days.

It's a proven fact that laughter is the best medicine. This is exactly why they bring clowns into children's hospitals and to those who are terminally ill. If you don't take time to live as a kid, you will grow old before you know it. I solely believe that laughter not only restores health, but it provides longevity and it definitely makes life worth living for.

Laughter and being silly is great for the soul. I can't go a day without it or else my head explodes! It keeps you young I think. Imagine going days without really laughing or being that silly. Kind of boring/nazi. No?

It is better to be happy than unhappy. And it depends on how we deal with life. I hate bitter people.
  19. lordiwanttobewhole
oh, please watch the movie Patch Adams! you will be so happy you did!

There's such a freedom in acting silly. The best laughter is laughing over nothing, laughing just because you can laugh.
    1. christibroer
You are so right! I love being silly! Laughter and the freedom to be who you are is expressed in silliness!
  21. Funkkeejooce
I am silly by nature to a point of corniness but I do have a serious side as well when needed. I think laughter and child-like silliness keeps you young and it is good for your soul!

I have a silly story....last night we had german choc cake for after Sunday dinner. Me and the girls were over at tash's and her 3 kids house. Anyways we got all the kids plattes made, they new they could have cake after they ate....well kendall came to me first and said I made a happy plate followed by jay-bug,britley and casey. I started saying how proud of jay and kendall for eating everything, and tash's girls too. Their plates were cleaned... I went to the dining room to get the baby outta the high chair, and on her tray was a MOUNTAIN of food. They said becky the (16 month old,who can't talk ) made them do it....

I've brought a lot of silliness into my husband's life & we're both much better off for it. Now rarely a night goes by that we don't end up laughing ourselves to sleep.
  24. theAWWWBUTmum
Live by the mantra - SHE WHO LAUGHS - LASTS! I also think it's important to teach our kids to learn to laugh at themselves - many a mistake or mishap could be cleared up quicker with a giggle.

I spend time every day just being silly while I play and laugh with my dog and my husband. It's a great release. My girlfriend and I get together weekly too and we are known for our silliness.

I commented on your posts and I hope ALL the others will click through and do the same too, because that's what shameless blog promotions are aimed at.

      Timethief,
I have a husband who is wonderful to share being crazy with all the time! I think it's great to have a "partner in crime" - so to speak!

Humor and festivity, genuine revelry, joyous celebrations or fantasy are vital to contemporary human life and faith. They are a precondition for genuine social transformation, according to author Harvey Cox…

Seems like quite the calorie burner as well. My stomach feels like it just had a much more beneficial workout after laughing myself silly than when I try and tackle a hundred sit-ups.
  29. HollytheHousewife
    Yup....still fun to be silly
  30. Agit8r
does having mood swings count as being balanced?
  31. HollytheHousewife
U have mood swings....I know I don't. I'm just sick and tired of being made a fool of. Like people say the web is a game, its not real life. So some people may think its silly, but at the expense of people who don't think the web is a game, but real life. Yea sometimes when you think something is silly to one person it might not be that way for the recipricate.
