    Here are some of the things the church I attend is involved with:

    I suggest you find a local Christian church in your area and talk to the head pastor about what they are doing in the world. You may find that they will pay or help pay for you to travel and help out.

    I can't recall the "name" of the church itself, but it was somewhere in the midwestern states area. But they got it in their head on adoptions. Both foreign and domestic.

    From what I understood, the congregation was about 400+ people, almost all of which, ended up adopting a child. Either from overseas, or from right here in the states.

    The Contemporary Christian singer Steven Curtis Chapman, has a serious hand in an organization called Shaohannah's Hope, which is named after their adopted Chinese daughter, Shaohannah. Shaohannah (or something close to that) means laughter. Fitting I'd say.
