The lottery

Has anyone ever won a bigg-ish prize or know someone who has?

My parents won about $3000 twice, and early this year my dad won a $45,000 car in an art union ticket.

I won just over $1200 once - one more number and I'd have won over $500,000 - grrr!

My sister won a "win for life" lottery. She was able to get off of Welfare, but as an alcoholic & drug addict, I fear what that kind of money will get her. (I haven't heard from her for years now & I can only assume the worst, really.)

I worked with the guy who won "the Trump million." It was when Trump gave away a million cash about 15 years ago.
I worked with a guy who won $600,000 in the state lottery, and the deli guy where I ate won 3 million. Some lady in the club I belonged to won 2.5 million.

  I know one couple that won a few million -- but they blew it all in a matter of two years. They wasted their money and now they are right back where they started.

I would never ever buy a lottery ticket. I'm glad you and your family have had good luck with winning money though. I prepare taxes for some professional gamblers who make mad money.

My folks have won a couple of hundred dollars here and there.

I think I won five bucks on a scratch off once

Every now and again I cough up a buck or two to play, never with any real luck, though. It's fun to hope once in a while, but that's about it.

We've never won, even though we have a subscription to the lottery. Ugh - it makes me sick when I think about how much money we have wasted on that stupid subscription, but my husband insists that "you gotta be in it to win it."

  That is the only way to win. I on the other hand, purchase tickets, hope we win and then don't check them. How perverse is that?

I doubt I'll ever really win a big one, but I buy a ticket in the lottery so I can dream about winning.
