I will not post my blog link here but I would really like everyone in the blogging community to be aware of this story..

It is about a woman who lied about carrying a terminally ill baby so that she could gain hits on her blog.. It's truly shameful and I for one feel that this info needs to be read by as many people as possible..

And please remember, don't always believe what you hear.

for the latest posting on this and the link to the actual article, feel free to check out my profile and visit my blog if you'd like more info. This is truly an embarassing day for the blogging community ...

H Bettie. Someone posted about this last week. I agree with you when it comes not to believe everything we read online. There are dram llamas everywhere we go and some seem to be prepared to do almost anything to get hits. IMO is you are a blogger who is telling a fictional story, then you ought to clearly state what you are writing is fiction.

Some bloggers operate on the basis that any way to get hits is okay. They tend to be those who think any advertising good or bad is a good thing. I don't. I shun bloggers who use unethical approaches like this woman did.

I wonder what others think about unethical blogging practices.

    P.S. I left you a comment.

timethief, I didn't realize someone had posted about this already, my bad .. I know that in her mind she knew this was not true, what upsets me is that she let it go on the way she did ... What kind of person would fabricate something so horrible and use it to thier advantage ...

    it's truly duisgusting.

    thanks for your comment

sounds like what the ladies in the hamptons say to each other while sipping on crystal when one of their own goes poor. i read the story last week and agree that she should have said that she was in fact writing fiction.

lol, no. It's just what came to my mind after reading that last part. But i do agree what she did was wrong. but i am the kind of person who could never be sucked in emotionally because it's my rule of thumb to read everything online with a grain of salt. because at the end of the day, i DON'T know who is at the other end of the screen.
first, I assume that if i'm seeing a girl avie, chances are it's a dude. and 2 or more of the people i come across could in fact be one and the same

I guess some folks will do anything to "close the sale". It's a shame, that's for sure. But I think you're doing the right thing by drawing this to our attention... because I sure as heck didn't know about it. This is not the kind of thing I want to be sucked in by.

I disagree with what she did, though from what I have read her story was not entirely fictional, it was how she dealt with the grief of a similar situation 2 years earlier. The only reason that I disagree with her actions is because she accepted gifts and money. Had she not done that, then to each their own. I take the stance that 70% of blogs are BS from the get go though so maybe that is why I am not too shocked. There are a handful here that I know for fact are liars because one stated they were in a certain indie movie that I was in and therefore know they were not. I guess my point is, don't believe anything unless it checks out through independent, unbiased sources.
As for her, she is probably going to get a book deal now

That's the thing though... everyone has a bias, even if it's just to be unbiased. But I hear what you're saying.

The blog actually has a big button with a picture of a foetus with the text "Praying For April Rose".

That, IMHO, is just as bad as accepting gifts and money. What about the women who were reading that, going through something similar, thinking they'd found a friend, a kindred spirit.

    You're right Bettie. Utterly sickening.
