This guided meditation: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZzqlPGo_Srw can be helpful if the procrastination is stress related. Any meditation will help to shake free some of the mental chatter.
Also, the nameless one could try only working for five minutes at a time at regular intervals in order to make herself do something. Sometimes self-bribery works-- I'll work for twenty minutes, then I can take a ten-minute walk. -
Gee Whiz--that wasn't too obvious, Epi! For procraSTination, I generally take all distrations away, such as shutting down my web browswer, turning off television, putting on music that fits easily into the background (like classical--and some jazz), and then just go for it.
Of course, I am the queen of procrastination myself. I am so glad I now have a deadline to get the manuscript in--or I would put it off and dilly dally forever!-
I used to listen to soundtracks when I was studying. I found they worked best because they kept up momentum and as they were written to be in the background they didn't ask to be listened to. I did also match the music to the topic sometimes...Gladiator for Roman history, Kingdom of Heaven for Crusades...
