Best is a very subjective term. Bush was the best president for the people his administration benefited.

Personally, I think this messiah-complex everyone seems to have for Obama is ridiculous. He's not a superhero.
    1. taganyork
but he is our new president that we have to support now specialy in this time
    2. GabrielGadfly
I am under no obligation to support the President. I didn't support Bush. Let's not forget that some 58 million Americans voted for the other guy.

"Best" I don't know about that, none of us do. Barack is just a man, and I'm sure he will have his successes and failures. I think some people are putting a lot on Obama, and the truth is he will not fix everything. Taking him for what he is, a strong man who brings forth the initiation of the change America needs, and nothing more or less will set us up for a better perspective. Obama is not Jesus.
    1. taganyork
      god bless barrak obama

    3. lotusb
I noticed. I think I'll post a new discussion so we have something else to look at..

    Who is Barack Obama?
  4. Ghunibee
I hope he can fulful his dream and the ones of those who voted him in. In Cyprus the Cypriots are watching carefully, he has shown an interest in the division of the country. I hope he follows through for them, as an Brit expat here, I watch with interest, the Uk is in a mess, if the US new president can offer hope for all, he has my backing.

He hasn't been in office over 5 hours and he is the greatest. Give me a break.

I wish him well but please.
    1. taganyork
no please he is the first
    2. ArsenicCookies
In 2001, Clinton was honored as the nation's "first black president" at the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) Annual Awards Dinner in Washington, D.C. Just sayin.

Also he is not the first mixed race president. There are 5 others but research is trying to determine what they were mixed with, black or native american

Just a suggestion. Our nations name should be capitalized. We'll see how it turns out, but I think he will be one of the finest elected officials we have ever known. We ... all of us need to do his or her part to make this a better world. I am quite willing. How about you?
    1. taganyork
      with you
  7. acousticguitarist
I really like your positive attitude.

To be frank, it doesn't matter who is president because the president has no power.

But I do like the fact that America voted for him over the other guy.

Let's just wait and see and hope that he represents the underlying values of what America is supposed have.
    1. taganyork
      he is the greatest
    2. acousticguitarist
      hilarious statement,

i guess he hasn't had enough time to stuff things up yet

Obviously you never read what I said.

Ok, for your sake YEEE He's The Greatest

The thing that I (from an outsider's point of view) find in Obama is not that he's the best president ever (he might turn out to be, who knows) but the fact that he put an end to a very bad era. Anything would be an improvement after Bush, a BIG improvement, and that gives the next president a bit of a boost in popularity.

I do think though, that he has everything it takes to be a very very good president.
    1. taganyork
you look at him he has more look to be a president than any one had
  9. rlrw2
"Change we can believe In." Now if he'd only stop changing his mind. I wrote about this today.
  10. rfburnhertz
If he is able to keep on his agenda, he will be one of the worse presidents if not the worst.

You wrote in reply to another poster that because he is our president now we have to support him.

I would support no one blindly.
I voted for GWB twice, I supported him in very little.
I cannot support Obama and his obvious agenda because it is bad for America.

I will never do as the Left in America did with GWB, I will never deny he is my president.

I absolutely will support him where I can and I will oppose him where I must. This has been my mind set for all presidents during my voting life and will remain my mind set no matter who holds that office.

Only time will tell whether he will make a further hash of things like Bush has done! Lets hope not!
  12. benspak
... I voted for Chuck Norris... He would have been better...
    1. ArsenicCookies
      I heart Chuck

    vivat OBAMA
    1. GabrielGadfly
You, my friend, seem to be vying for a position as Archbishop of Obamaland.
  14. acousticguitarist
I'm started to wonder if you are just a little over excited or whether you have no idea about how politics works
  15. hijabicouture
Over here in Africa, we are as excited as you are. Yipee!
  16. inbusiness
Yes why are you so excited all the way over there in Africa??
  17. deoangel
You know I have been a great Barack Obama advocate from the beginning. However, there were some people that thought that George Bush and Bill Clinton were going to be the best in history. I post regularly on my blog about politics most of the time. I strongly believe that only time will tell. In the meanwhile, we should just support our administration. Click my icon to check out my blog. My latest post shows President and First Lady dancing to "At Last" song by Beyonce. It was beautiful.

People are acting as if he's the "second coming of Christ". That's ridiculous, he's not some kind of superhero. He's just a man that was elected president. Remember to keep your expectations realistic.
    1. deoangel
I agree. I think that some Americans are making him out to be Jesus. They have so many expectations. One man can not fix everything. Lets wait until this time next year and then we can see how much he have done.
  19. deoangel
I also noticed that in your original comment you have said that Barack is "going to be the best president"...however, I have also noticed that in your comments you have stated that "he is the greatest".

I strongly admit that I am a President Obama supporter. However, please tell me what have he done in the last 1 day that he has been in office to be the greatest.
    1. taganyork
      he is history
  20. voodooKobra
[Barrak Obama Is Going TO be the best president of united states of america do you agree with me or not just post your comment thanks]

    You don't know that yet.
    1. deoangel
No one can know whether or not he is going to be the "best president", only time will tell. The great thing about this forum is that we can respectfully respect each others opinions whether we agree with them or not.

He became President on yesterday. We are already saying he is the best. Therefore, since you strongly believe that he is already "history" and he is "the greatest", what has he done already that you can convince us commenters of this?
    2. voodooKobra
      Prove it.
    3. taganyork
he is smart an intelligent and he is also a regular person not like all other that been before only Washington and Lincoln had that thats my point of view
    4. voodooKobra
Exactly. There is no proof, only opinion. Give him time to do great or terrible things before you judge his term.
    5. taganyork
      i trully belive in him
    6. voodooKobra
That's nice, but don't make outrageous claims if you can't back them up, okay?
  21. deoangel
There are a lot of smart and intelligent people in Washington and Lincoln. However, if someone is the best and the greatest and you are trying to prove a point...YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO VALIDATE THIS DISCUSSION. Thats my point of view. You cannot convince someone in a debate when you have no facts or cannot provide example. If you check out my blog, you will see that I am an advocate of President Obama. Yet, he is not God. We can only wait and see. If, God forbid, something bad happens today or tomorrow, would that still make him the best...just cause he is in office?

For someone to be the best at something they should have proven works.
    1. taganyork
he will definetly do that and plus he has my trust and if he will have all of our trust he will have success becouse its us that have to work and get our counry out of bushes mess
    2. voodooKobra
Don't let your trust blind your judgment, though.

Ideas are great because they can withstand criticism, not because they are never subjected to it.
    3. taganyork
every one is blind so what can we tell
    4. voodooKobra
Blindness stems from a lack of skepticism.
  22. deoangel
I don't think that people are blind. Yet, I believe we are realist. We had high hopes of expectations of every president that is in office during our lifetime. We can only put our support behind each administration and hope that we can indeed say in four years that that President was the greatest.
    1. taganyork
      he will be
  23. deoangel
Again, what makes you think he will be. It is a nice thoughts. However, what is behind your statement.
    1. taganyork
      my point of view
