"As of March 11, 2008, Stumbleupon users will now have to enter a CAPTCHA code when entering comments on some websites. The decision was made with the intention of cutting back on spammy comments left by fake users and in an effort to help decipher scans of old books. ... When you solve a reCAPTCHA, you help preserve literature by deciphering a word that was not readable by computers."

Sounds pretty crazy! What do you guys think? Is this a good thing or a bad thing?

hm... wonder why that is? Its hosted by blogger, so I can't really control that... There isn't really anything on there that is load-heavy. Maybe the new chat box?

Pretty good idea--scanning old books and cutting down on spam at the same time. Nice.

I agree, but I'm concerned because its too much work as it is to leave comments :-p (just kidding, but I am worried it will mean less feedback)
