What does summer mean to you, or better yet, what is it the season of? For me it is definitely the season of gardening and resting outside instead of in my comfy chair which is a winter place for contemplation.

So in this economy of no vacations or
stay-cations, what are you contemplating for this summer?

Yes, but what does summer mean to you?
    2. Sam1982
summer means the end of the year, christmas and being festive, long nights outside drinking by the pool and watching the sun set, being with friends and family. Most of all its a new start, it feels like a new beginning and comes with a feeling of freedom.

Summer for me is the season of sneezing, fainting, being constantly uncomfortable, and being slightly more ginger...

I miss Autumn..we haven't had an Autumn for years and it's my favourite season

This will be my first summer as a single lady in years. I plan on having one hell of a summer!

Summer is the season of blistering heat. A time to stay indoors as much as possible and wearily trudge around sweating during most daylight hours.
  5. Stillthinking
Summer is bike riding by the lake, laying out at the beach, ice cream, free concerts in the park, movies in the park, street festival food, pedicures, sandals, baseball, hot dogs, BBQ's, green trees, dog parks, zoos.

It's also humidity, blistering heat, sun burn, sleepless nights, tornados, lightning/thunder storms.

I'm with you on the good...and the bad - humidity. That makes summer almost unbearable for me too.
  6. nothingprofound
Summer is the season of shorts and tee-shirts and lollygagging outdoors.
    1. MissSuzie
      And pink teddys I presume?
    2. nothingprofound
Listen, miss tease! I'm still shivering from the cold shower I took the other night.
    3. MissSuzie
Yeah, about that. I really am sorry. I forgot my toenails were still wet. You wouldn't want a lady messing up her pedicure now, would you?

      Oh, yea...

    Hurricanes.

Cook-outs, beach, taking girls horseback riding, swimming, relaxing, and there is much more that's just a quick start. Only thing with summer is it does get way too hot for me.

Summer is the season of gardening (canning and preserving), picnics, BBQ's, the farmer's market, the beach (swimming, fishing, suntanning), tourists and visitors.

Summer is the season of boo-hooing to myself that it is too hot and day dreaming of the coming winter.
    1. christibroer
I use to feel that way, but I am trying a new tack - I'm enjoying the things that are great about summer...gardens, trees, and playing with the gkids!

Summer in Saudi Arabia is temperature shooting up to 53degC, high humidity, sandstorms, dates and cups of tea, beach swimming, and fat electric bills.

Euuuu!!! Doesn't sound like it is much fun! Our winters here usually are more costly since we are keeping homes warm and dealing with the terrible roads because of the snow and ice!

    Beach time all the time.

Summer means loads of mangoes, watermelons and swimming for me...
    1. christibroer
      I love mangoes and swimming!

    It's autumn here...whew!

Summer means being unable to use most of my lovely house because it is not air conditioned and I break a sweat walking from the bedroom (air conditioned) to the kitchen.

Summer means short sleeves and shorter tempers, tops down and 100SPF sunblocks.

Summer means the market full of fresh berries, mangoes, litchies, grapes, watermelon, cherries and other delicious fruits.

I am very ambivalent about summer...
    1. christibroer
I think many of us are ambivalent about the season! I (Like you.) love the fresh fruit and veggies, but the humidity is way too much for me when it gets hot.

NY has breathtaking State Parks and we bought a yearly pass so our vacations will be day or weekend trips to as many as we can get to.
we also go to the weekly outdoor concerts in our area. A lot of the smaller towns have them so we can go and enjoy outdoor music of all kinds for free. There are also a lot of festivals and small town parades and fairs. I'm a sucker for a small town parade. I love it all from the Shriner's little cars to the HS bands and flag corp.s to the floats and firetrucks.

Summer means brighter days and pounding heat. I much prefer autumn.

Summer means the kids can go out side to play. the garden needs work, extra water for the animals, fishing, grilling out, camping at the creek, and watermelons!!!!
  18. freeatlast
by far not my favorite season... but i put up with it. Prefer the inbetween seasons. I do like getting extra sunlight. Don't like the humidity.
    1. christibroer
Spring and Fall do hold a certain magic for me too - besides cooler temperatures that is!
