After seeing Thriftshopromantic's post on her three years of blogging, mentioned here:
www.blogcatalog.com/discuss/entry/three-years-of-blogging-lessons-learned

Actual post here:
www.cabbagesnkings.net/2009/09/blogging-birthday-lessons-learned.html

I was inspired to write one myself for mine.
Jenn aka Thrifty really sets the bar high when it comes to blogging, not only in her posts, but in her interactions with her fellow bloggers.

I also wanted to change the way my blog looked, using some of my doodles. So I now I have a shiny new template, which I love.

Today is the three years of blogging for me, so I have written a humongous post, well humongous for me.

crpitt.blogspot.com/2009/10/3-years-and-counting.html

So Discussion time:
I included a link to the wayback machine in the post, which archives your blog.

Is your blog on there yet?
www.archive.org/web/web.php

Can you see yourself blogging for a long time?

Congrats. That's awesome that you've been at it for so long.
    1. crpitt
Thanks dude, it has been fun for the most part
  2. TJlubrano
Woohooo!! Congrats Claire! I will read your post now ^_^.

Well I do see myself blogging for a longer time. We shall see how the future goes!
    1. TJlubrano
Claire! I totally love LOVE your new lay out! I haven't read the post yet though. I just stared at the layout haha.
    2. crpitt
It is a wee bit long lol, but it is hard to trim down three years worth of waffling
    3. TJlubrano
      So cool

And it wasn't that long haha! I wish you many many more blogging years!!
    4. crpitt
Aw thanks I tried not too go on for too long.
  3. aspotofblog
Congrats! I read your new posts via RSS.

Yes, I can see myself blogging for many years to come. I have so much to say! This is but the beginning.
    1. crpitt
You must have a peek at the new look

I love your posts, I feel like I am peeking inside your head when I read them. I am looking forward to where you go with it.
    2. aspotofblog
      Will do.

And keep up with the blogging, you're doing a great job.

      Thanks for the compliment.
    3. crpitt
Thank you for the compliment too
  4. brianomaracroft
I'm guilty of the overlong thing too, at times. My post today, about my birth, ended up being so long I broke it into two parts...one for today, and one to get me off the hook for being creative tomorrow.
    1. crpitt
I was going to break it up, but I couldn't decide which point to chop it at, so I left it.
    2. brianomaracroft
Personally, I prefer an entry that has details over one that's little more than a tweet.
    3. crpitt
Well some of my posts are like that, but lately I have been enjoying writing longer posts.
  5. Deray28
My blog in Spanish just turned 5 years! Holly cow, I didn't realize it until now! I'm really bad at posting consistently, I can be away from it for a couple of months and then I write 2-3 posts in 2 days, jajajaja. I will keep going at it even if no-one reads me It is more for my benefit than anyone elses
    1. crpitt
5 years? Holy moly. How come you decided to translate it? Although I love that you did
    2. Deray28
It was because I saw very limited number of Spanish bloggers on Blogcatalog. I used to have a decent number of followers and people that I followed in Spanish, when I started my blog but, the move to the US and the jerk of my boss left me no time to write and when you don't write you lose readers :(. I picked it up recently and it is linked to facebook, I get a lot more comments on facebook than on the blog though. Also, I knew you lot (BC'ers) wouldn't visit me if you couldn't understand more than 2 words, jajajaja.
    3. crpitt
/finishes comment started ages ago, but was stuck on the phone to chatty sister!

I was just about to ask how long you had been here and why you started using BC discussions, because it is like you just appeared? I was blind to the jajajaja till recently.
    4. Deray28
I have been here since June ;). One of my friends started a blog about weddings, she is a wedding-planner and she found BC, I found BC through her and got stuck here, jajajaja. My friend's blog is listed but she is not active in the discussions or anything. I was in need of a community and found a great one
    5. crpitt
I was replying to an email a friend sent me, she had said she hadn't seen me for ages. I told her not to exaggerate, it had only been a few weeks. Apparently it had been 3 months! whoops.

Proving that I have lost all sense of time.

Would you recommend that your friend use the discussions? Or would that be cruel and unusual punishment?
    6. Deray28
      The latter, jajajaja.

I don't think she can really benefit from the discussions, her blog is for her business and not many people from Phoenix are around here
    7. crpitt
Yes I think the latter too, I stopped suggesting blogger friends join in here a long time ago

Is she on twitter? That may be good for her business.
    8. Deray28
I don't know if she is, because I'm not, jejeje
    9. crpitt
Zomg! I now have to learn jejeje too!
    10. Deray28
      jajajaja= good laugh

      jejejeje= sarcastic (sometimes fake) laugh

      jijijiji= malicious laugh
    11. crpitt
Interesting and I may use this against you

      jijijijiji
  6. RecycleCindy
Wow the new template is fantastic. Really suits you. Love the doodles and all the cool stuff you included on the home page. As for the wayback machine -- Yes I'm there and what an eye opener that was. I guess we've all come a long way in the past several years.
    1. crpitt
      Oh thanks for visiting

You have been blogging for the same time or longer haven't you?

I thought the wayback machine was pretty cool, thank goodness it didn't have my first template
    2. RecycleCindy
I'm just a bit behind you. My inaugural post was 1/24/2007 which the wayback machine showed. Definitely took me back and made me realize how far I've actually progressed with the blog.
    3. crpitt
I visited in the beginning, I can just about remember through the fog of time
  7. ThriftShopRomantic
Congrats on the 3 years! I think your blog is particularly interesting and unique because it's combined a lot of personal struggles, with a more upbeat twist, plus your counseling work.

Also, the doodles are a pretty hysterical look into your weird brain.

PS- Thanks for the props on my old three-years post. I'd be blushing, but you can't tell because my avatar is tie-dyed.
    1. crpitt
Well it was that post that inspired me to make an effort

Hey less of the weird, I prefer 'creative'.
    2. ThriftShopRomantic
      Creatively weird? Weirdly creative?

It's okay. I'm a fan of weird. I mean, you know this; you've read my blog.
    3. crpitt
      Either will do

The inner workings of the Jenn are a tad creatively weird...

      hehe
  8. HollytheHousewife
    HAPPY BLOGERVERSARY 2U!!!
  9. MissSuzie
Congrats! I guess this means you're a big girl now?
    1. crpitt
      Do I have to be?
  10. Shiley
Congrats! I'll have to come back and read.
    1. crpitt
There is nothing rude on it at the moment, so you should be safe
    2. Shiley
Was busy. Kids, cleaning, dinner, still settling, life...
  11. nothingprofound
Congratulations, Claire! You're definitely a unique blend of spices. Compassion, creativity, humor, indignation, cynicism.
    1. crpitt
      That was a lovely comment

      How very dare you!

      Hehe
  12. bettieblogger
LOVE the new layout, left you a wee comment
    1. crpitt
Oh thanks Bettie, wee comment was appreciated

How long have you been blogging for now?
    2. bettieblogger
Since the beginning of April, but I haven't posted a dayum thing in a month .. I'm in a lazy phase
    3. crpitt
      Lazy already! Shame on ya...

Actually I had plenty of lazy phases too.
  13. polybore
The new lay out is ++good.

Interesting looking at the historical polybore. Not much has changed except moving from white text on a black background to black text on a white background. Very polybore.
    1. crpitt
Thanks Poly, my doodles + Design Bug's template skills really worked well.

My sister looked at the template before and wondered if people knew that I do sit around in the dressing gown that doodle claire is wearing in the header lol

How long has polybore been blogging now?
    2. polybore
Since the 8th of May 2008 so about 19months. Back then polybore was in the first person. Awful.
    3. crpitt
Fist person! Claire is very shocked to hear that.
  14. ArsenicCookies
the new layout is awesome. When I first saw it, it sparked my disatisfaction with my own theme again (hehe hey I've only redesigned it 11 times so far). So you
    1. crpitt
Okay it took me a millions reads of this to get what you meant by 'so you'

I was waiting for you to finish the sentence, I am such a maroon

      Thanks!
  15. ToughCookieMommy
Congrats, Lady. The blog looks gorgeous and the content is wonderful, as always. Enjoy your special milestone.
    1. crpitt
Oh thanks very much, so pleased that everyone likes the new look
  16. owlbarn
Congratulation! I like visiting your blog and enjoy looking at your finds.
    1. crpitt
      Thank you!

Have you been blogging long enough to be archived in the wayback machine?
  17. Theresa111
Congratulations Claire on Your First Three Years and a Great Blog! Cheers!

Oh, I love the new template. The blends of colors are striking.
    1. crpitt
The gal designed the template gets all the credit for the colour choices, I think she was inspired by the outfit doodle Claire was wearing.

How long have you been blogging for now? Longer than me I think?
  18. PetLvr
like the template! // congrats on learning lessons over the years most don't.
    1. crpitt
I was pretty slow on the uptake to be honest, but it has been fun for the most part

You must have a million entries in the wayback machine?
  19. cooper
That's a great looking template. Congrats on the years.
    1. crpitt
      Thanks Cooper

I know you have been blogging for a long time, what do you think is the main reason why you keep at it?
  20. cooper
    it's a great cathartic.
    1. crpitt
Definitely agree with that, not that I was expecting that when started.
  21. MidwestMom
Your doodles make me smile (is that a Ziggy bathrobe?? Tell me it exists in real life!)

    Happy writing, Claire. - Julia
    1. crpitt
The dressing gown (bathrobe) is a Little Miss Naughty one Yes it exists, I wear it all the time hehe.

      www.mrsneeze.com/mrmen/meetlittlemisses.html
    2. MidwestMom
      Hilarious.

My daughter's favorite is Little Miss Trouble.
    3. crpitt
Does Little Miss Trouble accurately describe her? Is Mr Men and Little Miss popular in the US?
    4. MidwestMom
I think she just likes Little Miss Trouble because she's always stirring the pot, just saying that one thing that will make someone boil over. Then, she steps aside to watch the show.

So... maybe it describes her a little bit. But she's 4 so it's early to decide that just yet.

And yes, we read the early Mr. books when I was young, and my kids love the Little Miss books now. We have Little Miss Trouble, Mr. Strong, and Little Miss Stubborn (another favorite.)
  22. kdawg68
Three years of Claire blogging. Let's see...we've got war, climate change, recession...coincidence??? I think not. Somehow I always knew the English were behind it all.
    1. crpitt
I have always wanted to take over the world....
