To those like me who have thought about throwing in the towel because you get as much traffic as a Hip hop shop in a nursing home....please reconsider
Today I got an email from someone just to say thank you for what I had written and it reaffirmed what I already knew. Out there someone will connect to what you have written whether they send you an email or not doesnt matter. Out there someone needs to know they are not alone in their struggles in life they need to know someone else is going through the same thing. Out there someone needs a laugh or a giggle to lightened their load or maybe they need to find something somewhere.
Your blog and what you write is important whether you get the accolades or the traffic doesnt matter because what you achieve might be far greater you might touch another human soul and make a difference.
So to all those people who may have been thinking why bother I say because somewhere out there someone needs to read what you have written.

I agree, Robin-- I'm glad that email came an an opportune moment. Save those appreciative emails to remind yourself when your drive flags.

    Readers are out there...

Sometimes they're quiet, but it doesn't mean they haven't been affected in some way by your posts.

It's a great point to bring up.

I have come across a post and thought okay I needed to hear that or wow I am not alone on this after all on more than one occasion

All old people are gangsta, don't be fooled by the exterior.

But yeah, connecting with people is easy. The hard part is getting noticed by those who may have some sort of connections. One must be persistent and patient.

I've had that happen to me numerous times, then an artist would email me and thank me for mentioning them and how much it meant for them to have exposure. Great feeling

Most bloggers are passionate about the subject matter they write about and we all seek validation so when we don't get it we can feel like quitting.

But this validation has also happened to me right out of the blue when I first began and was discouraged by the lack of comments. Thanks for posting to encourage others to hang in there.

All we can do is slog on, try like hell, build a following and stay hopeful. What more can we do?

Yup - the feedback, just knowing that someone one person has read what you've written and could relate is enough to keep me going for weeks!

It is awesome, and I'm so glad you had the opportunity to hear positive feedback about your blog and your stories. ♥

actually it was an article I submitted which is the same thing I actually emailed the person back to thank them for what they had given me by taking the time to say thank you so anyone who gives feedback also know it is appreciated

RobinJ, You are so very relevant and this discussion will be a subject that many can and will relate. It is important to keep writing and send the energy out into cyber space. As you pointed out, we never know just how effective our words are. Great topic.

I was in a conference in the city today and as I was talking with my fellow artist pal in a workshop a woman at the next table asked me, "are you jafabrit" and I said yes. I asked how on earth did you recognize me or know and she said she heard my accent, heard my friend mention jafagirls and she guessed. SHe reads my blog every day. I was floored. I think I was more than that I was gobsmacked lol! I can't tell you how NEAT it was to actually meet someone who read my blog and loved it and recognized me. so yes Robin, I guess I was reminded that I may not get a LOT of comments or traffic, people do read and enjoy.

I don't have many readers, but I do know that what I write sometimes help those out or they find it interesting.
I don't blog for the numbers - of course it would be fun to have thousand hits a day - but I mostly blog for myself and if others can use it - great. If not - I get value from it myself.

Svelmoe, a keen observation that many miss in their race for ratings.

Writing helps me shape, organize, and express my thoughts - an important value in itself. Sharing those thoughts then gives them further substance. One cannot predict if or how they may impact another.

As it has been said: even a small pebble tossed into a stream can ripple out to change the world.

Keep on blogging. Change the world!
