One of my blogs has been around now for about 18 months. I'm close to crossing 1000 unique visitors per day. I am a complete amateur and wanted to share some tips even if they are probably not related to my blog's growth.

If you google "hho gas", you'll see I'm on the front page of the results.

From Jan to Feb, traffic doubled. From Feb to Mar, traffic doubled again. From Mar to Apr, yes...again, traffic doubled.

What did I do differently? One thing is I joined blogcatalog and that has helped a little. But what I started doing was commenting more on other blogs with related topics to my blog which is hho gas.

Second, I added a few images to all of my posts. I readjusted my adsense a bit and made more liberal use of links along the right side of the main page. But overall that's it.

I'd really like to talk with some bloggers who are experienced with monetization and can give me some free tips on how to increase revenue. If you contact me directly, I'll tell you how I'm getting about $60/day now.

PS yes, I realize the Title of my posting says how I crossed 1000 visitors per day but my posting admits I havent actually crossed 1000 yet. Well, my plan was to use this posting to get over 1000. :-) Yes, shameless indeed!

Aye, shameless, pity it isn't in the shameless category coz it'll likely get removed soon

i thought about putting it in there but there is actually a question attached insofar as perhaps someone with better monetization skills could throw out a couple recommendations that would benefit me and anyone else reading the thread. :-)

Update. Yesterday it officially crossed 1000/day with a 1094 unique visitors. Interesting too that it's occuring almost to the day of the blog's 2 yr anniversary.

It's a shame to see good ol' honesty Gregory Peck being used for spammy threads.

      I resemble that remark.

The thing is most give up on their blogs long before that time. It takes 12-18 months usually. The traffic builds over time because people link to you that you don't even know each month. Then some of those link to you also. It just keep growing.

I completely agree with you mike, real traffic can get up to 18 or 20 months to start showing.
