I don't know how many are currently looking at unemployment in the near future but many of my friends are anticipating layoffs where they work.
I put together some tips to hopefully reduce the time you spend un-employed. maybe even eliminate it!

I just visited your blog and read the tips. Unfortunately, I didn't really get anything out of it. I was hoping to find some valuable secret about finding a job that I haven't heard a dozen times before. I have done all the things you have suggested, but unfortunately, it has done nothing to change my situation.
I am very proactive about unemployment. I usually send out 3-4 resumes a day. I am registered with 3 head hunters and have registered with CareerBuilder, Monster, as well as three industry specific job boards. I have revised and revamped my cover letters (multiple) and my resumes (multiple). I network. I make phone calls. I joined professional organizations. I earned additional accreditation during my unemployment to increase my hire ability. Unfortunately, none of this has provided me with employment in my field.
Architecture and construction is one of the hardest hit sectors of the economy and Chicago is one of the most crowded markets for architects. I have even expanded my job search nationally.
I think many people will find that they are running into the same situation in their fields. It's not them or the work they do. It's current state of the economy.-
I totally feel you. It's tough to find a job. What you really need is one place that pulls all companies and job boards into one mega-listing service.

No thank you. I am going to reject your request for the following reasons:
1) Doesn't your post fall under the category of linkdropping?
2) Having said that, part of me thinks you're a recruiter trying to solicit your services. If not, do you get paid any money by dropping a name through some sort of referral program?
3) Seasoned jobseekers will laugh at what you call "tips."-
ok... well thanks for the input!... apparently I am not so great at giving tips!
sorry guys.. it was an honest effort, that obviously fell short of it's intention...
nope... I am not a recruiter, or a referral guy, just a guy that has bunches of IT friends that could potentially lose their jobs. somone asked me for help recently and I figured I would post it here.. anyways.

Develop an imaginary boss. He is a prick.
You have three months to develop a blog that pays reasonable money or your ass is toast. I hate that guy. 10 hour days, research, collaboration - he even makes you work weekends - and no help or support 'cause he won't budget the money.
Well, there goes the friggin' vacation.
