I created casualblogger.net mainly for people who don't blog. It's a blog open to anyone to post on, with the idea that many people who don't want to blog on a regular basis. I call them casual bloggers, but unfortunately most of them will never blog, because setting up a blog might be just too much trouble.

What should I do to reach these people?

What technique of blog promotion worked the best for you?

Thanks!

You got to wait. And continue to promote. These guys are going where the wind blows, means they go and spend time where there are lot of people. Let your community grow and they are sure to come back and build their blog.

I like the way you put it: "going where the wind blows"...

Here's one tip. Never register a .net domain unless you also own the .com unless you want to send lots of free traffic to the other guy.

The way you've set up the blog it's tough to tell what it's purpose is. If you want to provide a place for people to blog that don't want to go to the trouble of setting up their own blog you should make it more obvious. Personally I would set it up more like Twitter or Jaiku or even Blog Catalog and keep the main landing page simple. Right now it looks too much like a blog rather than a blog community.

Interesting concept. I think a lot of people who can't be bothered posting on their own blogs ... actually end up creating posts here in the discussion boards, lol. But ... that's just my opinion. So maybe you do have an audience here.

yes, you're right, I did got a few hits from here :). I think that as Hugh mentioned it, I'll have to rethink the layout to make it look more public and less personal.

Don't put all your eggs in one basket. Research, there's an infinite amount of sources to get traffic from, and even more sources to get "like-minded" traffic from. I would use blog carnival if I were dealing with your subject matter, but that's just me. That way you can rally people.

I know this sounds counter-intuitive but why not set your blog up with consistent bloggers but post the content in a less-consistent manner?

Say you find someone who will write bi-weekly every Thursday and they are reliable. To maintain the casualness sometimes you post their stuff on a Wed, sometimes a Friday, mix it up.

Just because your image is one of casualness doesn't mean you have to maintain that behind the scenes. And branding is a hell of a lot easier when you know there is some reliability from consistency, even if you pretend you don't have it.
