I am attempting to set up a Fibromyalgia Awareness Day event at a local mall on May 12th. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what would make this table/booth exciting and interesting (so that people actually stop instead of just walking by)? We are going to try to raise awareness and also so money for the National Fibromyalgia Association.

    Hi Lori,

Thanks for visiting and rating my blog. RE: the Awareness Day booth. My support group has never done one of those. Our mall would only let us do it when they were having a medical/health kind of fair. Which would be helpful with the traffic, but it wouldn't be Awareness Day. Seems like traffic would be the thing to concentrate on for your booth. Get some kind of advertising before hand to draw people with an interest in FM out to the mall on a Monday. Sometimes local papers and TV will cover an event for free, especially if someone with FM will give them an interesting personal story. Have you looked at the NFA suggestions on hosting informational events? Lots of good info here: www.fmaware.org/site/News2?page=NewsArticle&id=6879.

    Good luck!

      Hi Sherrillyn,

Yes, the interesting personal story is a good idea. I am going to ask a young woman that was greatly helped by us (pain relief) to come:)

I don't know...maybe have foods out that are beneficial for fibromyalgia sufferers, as well as those that they should avoid. Or offer free trigger point testing...you would need to know how to do that though. I was going to write a post on this as someone had recently asked me. Let me know if you are interested and I will put it in the front of the que for you!
