Do you have your site set up so something automatically plays? A youtube video, a song, etc.? What do you think about this practice? Personally, I don't like it. I get flash anger and yell ''I'll tell YOU when I want to watch or listen to something you tottering, fen-sucked dewberry!'' But that's because when I get mad I talk like Stewie from Family Guy. Either way, I'd like to know your take on the automatic media. Is it useful?

Thanks,
JD from hoeno.blogspot.com

No autoplays. They're annoying. I always leave as soon as I hear sound.

I agree -- it is annoying.

I agree with Drowsey Monkey. They are annoying. Also, when some visits from dial-ul connection, the autoplay slows page down and visitor may leave the site without reading.

Yep, that's true too. Also, some people surf from places they're not suppose to ... like work, lol. Or they're listening to their own music. I've probably missed a lot of good blogs because of auto-play because I leave right away without reading.

I agree with the others who have posted so far. I hate autoplay music. I choose my own music and there's nothing that will make me click out faster than someone who has autoplay music of their choice blasting at me from their blog. Music is cool but please give your readers the option of clicking to hear it or not.

I hate autoplay music and autoplay videos. I even hate that stuff that automatically turns your toilet water blue.

Lol. I'm glad everyone seems to agree with me in that it sucks rotten eggs.

Count me in as one of the autoplay haters.

I've gotten so I always surf with my computer's speakers disabled. Then if I see something I want to listen to, I can switch the speakers back on.

But I really hate having audio imposed on me!

I always have music playing at home. So, when I open a website and music starts playing, there's an immediate cacophany.

      Absolutely!

Why is it so hard for the autoplayer-fanatics to get this?

I am not too crazy about autoplay either, I would rather have the choice, and the title of the song showing!

Usually I while I am on the computer I like it to be peaceful or I am playing my own music. Or listening to a CD someone has given me!

The only time it makes sense to me is if it's a musical band's website. If it's a few seconds of a signature song or something, then I can excuse it. If it's just blaring non-stop on auto-repeat then I never go back and I sue the band for emotional trauma.

I think it's a little distracting. The first thing I look for when I hear music on a site is the stop button. I want to read the site and navigate through it. The only reason one should have music on a page is if they're a band or trying to promote a band.
