Rants:
-Today my aunt join Facebook.
-When my aunt joined Facebook she immediately left paragraph long comments on each of my updates.
-When my aunt joined Facebook, told my mother, and then she threatened to join too.
Rave:
-I am no longer without the paragraph long comments I so coveted, even if it is a little bit in the vein of "The Monkey's Paw."

err that isn't directed at you, I can understand how you feel. I told my kids (well they are young adults) I would NOT be offended if they didn't invite me as a friend on their facebook when I joined. -
My rant is a similar one to yours. My mother started using the computer more than 12 years ago--when I first left for graduate school at Penn State. She knew how terrible I am at snail mail and wanted to be able to stay in touch with me.
Today, twelve years later, she still has trouble with her email! Today, we had another long, exasperating 'tech help' session on the phone. Oy Vey!
