  10. melindaville
Pulp Fiction is the biggest one that comes to my mind (it was the heroin, shooting up scene for me).
Oh and I just saw someone else listed Requiem for a Dream -- totally!

Monter's Ball was also really intense.
  11. Bonnielicious

  15. aningeniousname
Waking life was a great film, Richard Linklater's other "cartoon" film scanner darkly messed with your head quite a bit too.
  16. MadMadMargo
Something is wrong with me then, I don't consider any of these movies as having messed with my head. Oh, well.
  17. claudiorodval

I really hate films that aim for this goal but two that stand out in my head at the moment are:

    1. Identity

    2. Million Dollar Baby
  24. claudiorodval
    Identity is amazing!!!

    why do you hate them?
    1. gearsofrock
To me, the purpose of going to the movies is to be entertained via laughing or viewing good looking actresses. I don't like leaving the theater with a screwed up head that keeps me up for the rest of the night.
    2. claudiorodval
      fair enough! Happy New Year
  25. armywife65
Scary movies that have things that could actually happen in real life. Like Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Dentist, Wrong Way Turn, Saw,...eehhh! I think, "man, this crap could actually happen.
  26. jjmezzio

Sounds like a film a watched a couple of weeks ago... The Man from Earth... although this one seems to be a lot better... thanks a lot for the info

I had an emotional response to 2001 when I first saw it. I've seen it maybe 10 more times. Luckily my hubby saw it alot and read and listened about it and his dad explained stuff to him, so he's able to explain things to me. We just introduced 2001 and 2010 to my daughter this past summer, with the enlightened commentary of my hubby. Now my daughter sees references to it in other movies. For example, in Wall-e there are many references to it that my daughter and I picked up.

    Man Bites Dog
    Eraserhead
    Symbiopsychotaxiplasm
    Videodrome
    Delicatessen

    Directors:
    Lynch
    Cronenberg
    Kubrick
    Godard
    Tarantino
    1. busylizzy
No disrespect intended but I think Lynch is one sick puppy. I did not like BLue Velvet at all, but I must say I adored Twin Peaks, the tv series.

    1. msbaby
I agree with you on "The Illusionist". You really had to be on your toes and pay close attention to keep up. It was one of the few films that I have had to go back a re-watch certain scenes to see if I missed anything.
  29. claudiorodval
Symbiopsychotaxiplasm.... never heard of that before... is it any good?
    1. freeatlast
not a psychological thriller, but very psychological... way different than anything ever made before or after... you can find it through the Criterion Collection.

      in my opinion, very good.
    2. claudiorodval
I will check that... sounds good.
      Thanks
  30. claudiorodval
I heard the same thing about Revolver a couple of times... havent seen it yet... but will... soon
    1. Arnous81
Revolver got bad reviews for being too complicated. And I admit that it can't be understoon 100%, but you will still love it! And yes, it messes up your head like crazy!
