My traffic from Google and other search engines is down significantly these days compared to a week ago.

What gives? Anyone else notice this?
Is something wrong with my site?

I notice this at the end of each month, and then see it pick up the first week of the month.

What this means, I'm not sure-- whether it's Google needs to reindex its search, or whether people tend to search less at the end of the month, say, wrapping up some end of the month duties.

But it's a trend I've been keeping an eye on for a while now.

Thank you for the insight. My site's only two months old now, so never noticed this. It's been growing steadily until last week, then a sudden drop. It alarmed me. ^^

    Could be the caffeine ...
    (no really .. )

    Techjaws noticed this too:

I haven't the time to compare notes (or stats) yet.

Thanks for the links. Does this mean I need to get more relevant backlinks to get more Google traffic?

      PetLvr,
According to the techjaws link above the last Google Pagerank update occurred on September 11th, which was followed by a three-day all-time-low on my site, but traffic and search hits have since then greatly increased.

      KVNPark,
If your site is only two months old I wouldn't be worried...yet. It does take a while for Google to figure out where to place you in search results.

@husdal .. I noticed that too although it took until the 20th to get back to what it was on sep10th for me (before update)

Yes, it seems as if the innernetz is also in recession.

Hey, it really did pick up again.
Actually starting Sept 30, for the last two days, Google traffic shot right back up.
Today's going a little slow, though.

    It's an interesting trend nonetheless.
I even had less referrals during the last week of sept. It felt like there was less people online or something.

I'm seeing mine pick up FINALLY.

I think Caffeine took care of the black-hat seo tactics - at least until they figure out how to demolish Caffeine.

Me too. Whenver they take my site out of the results, I get hurt bad. Put it back in please

If Caffeine is the reason things seem to have shifted there for a while, this also explains why Googlebot was pretty well camping out on my site there for a few days...

    Must have been reindexing things.
