What is the greatest distance you are willing to travel to a beach vacation? Has this economy affected your vacation plans? Do you prefer to drive or fly to your beach location spot?

OK, I wouldn't put a limit on distance... the fact that I'm in England speaks volumes! Well it should.
Economy is a real pain! Yet an encouragement for me to be more careful meaning save a lot more. After such a strict budget, such a luxury is needed.
Oh and of course flying! Further from England the better!

My rule of thumb is: however many days I waste travelling, I need to spend twice as many on the beach! If I had the time and money I'd visit Tahiti or Fiji!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (but I don't and probably never will)

I think I have to cross the street to get to the beach...

I have an exciting life. I travel 18 miles daily, to the lakeside, to feed the ducks.

Australia has beaches to die for, it wasn't til I went around the world that i realised how beautiful the coastline is in Oz, where I go for lunch, people fly from around around the world to go to.

We have a swim, a coffee, an ice cream, it's heaven when we think about it

I grew up on New York's Long Island. We were about 15 minutes from the North Shore beaches. Used to cut school and go to Cold Spring Harbor in the Fall and Winter. Pretty much had the place to ourselves.

Now, I don't do beaches. Melanoma will crush that craving. If you do indulge, please remember your sunscreen!!

Five minutes in a car gives me headache.
And so maybe I need a beach near my house.
    Buy me one

About 30 blocks east to Lake Michigan beaches in Chicago.

I wouldn't take a vacation to a beach per se. I usually pay a visit a city's sea side, if they have one; but I don't go there for that reason. I'd rather haggle with street vendors, visit museums, hang out in cafes.

i prefer to drive...it's too tired and not fun to go to the beach that is close to you...
