Hi, I've searched and searched, and cannot for the life of me figure out how to add the blogcatalog verification html to my wordpress.com blog.

Its www.organically.tv

It's a self hosted wordpress.com blog.

Can anyone help a html impaired girl?

Thanks!!!!!

There is a version of the code for WordPress.com users, it's at the bottom of the widget page. You just paste it into a widget and save. Alternatively, I think you can just add a link or one of the badges.

Go to your theme editor and select footer.php
Then paste it before the last div tag

Wordpress.com users don't have access to the theme editor, and they can't use the standard code because javascript isn't enabled.

For more support on WP Theme customization you can go to the support forum of www.revolutiontheme.com

what you want to do is copy the wordpress.com code and add it to a text widget
by going to dashboard » design » widget. Then add the text widget
paste code click change on the widget then click save changes...

you'll need the recent readers widget code from BC, for it to work...

    Wordpress.com or Wordpress.org ? The difference.

There is no designated wordpress.com code, so this is not as easy as it seems. You're supposed to know yourself, if you have a blog on wordpress.com, that you cannot use any of the widgets or the scripted buttons, i.e. #1 and #3. That's usually one of the fist things 1st time wordpress.com bloggers stumble upon and are totally confused by.

@ tpvswp = There is a version of the BC code for wordpress.com users which uses HTML. I'm using it. It used to be true that you couldn't use such things there, but a number of services have created compatible versions of their widgets.

    What?

I have a wordpress.com blog and i'm currently using the code
    I mentioned...

Go to your BC, profile go down to were it says recent viewers and click
    create widget you'll see there's a code for wordpress.com...

Also [Java script, Iframes, and flash, are not allowed]
just [Basic HTML, and CSS, are allowed] and the code has
none of 3 things mention that can not be used so there
fore the code will work on wordpress.com...

Sorry, you're right. I was in a rush and didn't check ALL widgets, only the first. So, the "Recent Viewers" is the only widget that works in WordPress.com, along with most of the regular buttons.

Yes, you can only use the recent viewers widget, but any of the buttons will work. It would be nice if there was an HTML version of the communities widget, but the RV one is a nice start.

On the create a widget page there is a second lower box containing code for a Recent Visitors widget that you can place in a text widget on a wordpress.com blog like yours and mine. This is the only widget that can be used on wordpress.com blogs. It will have 5 entries and that cannot be changed.
      (1) In the sidebar on your BC profile page click "Create a Widget"
      (2) When the page opens you will see BlogCatalog Recent Viewers Widget.
Build a custom widget for: ___________ (select blog) Type of Widget: _________ (Recent Viewers)
      (4) Scroll down to the bottom and find this: "Have a Wordpress.com, Myspace, or Yahoo! 360 Blog?
Use the following code to track and display your recent readers."
In the box immediately below it you will find the code you can copy and paste into a text widget on your wordpress.com blog.
      Happy blogging!
