Trying To Get My URL Banned On Blogging Zoom

THIS IS A RANT! This is in no way, anyone else's reflection of experience. It's just my unhappiness with a separate community site. The following incidents should not be construed as common.
*********************************************
Just a short while back, I got an invite by another BC user to join another blog community page. That page? Blogging Zoom. So I figure what the heck, I'll check it out, see if it's any good. It looked ok, so I went ahead and signed up.
Despite the numerous downtimes of the site, I stuck with it, hoping against hope, that it would NOT turn out to be just another Digg-ish site. And to my delight, it didn't completely look like it would.
So, over the course of about a week, I began to add my posts there, as well as the other sites I submit to. Amazingly enough, out of the 7 or 8 posts over that week I submitted, 2 of them got published to the front page. Good news I would think.
UNTIL....
A wonderful e-mail shows up talking about how horrid and terrible it is to copy and paste text from the originating content into the Blogging Zoom submission. And they have created 5 seperate postings about the evilness of doing so. Never saw them. Glad I was prewarned.
But isn't that the point? To bring more people to one place based on YOUR content? I guess not, as the e-mail went on to mention how accounts that continue to do so may get banned. I dropped a note to both the BC user who invited me about this, as well as the BZ support and said perhaps BZ isn't the service then for me. Wouldn't ya know it, the response from the BC user was, and I'll make this polite as possible, to essentially leave "since we only want REAL bloggers at BZ." No response has been forthcoming from BZ itself.
Hmm... only real bloggers. One week, unknown to the community there, 2 front page published posts. But they only want real bloggers. Well, I guess the only thing left to do is to get myself banned then, since I can't get BZ to answer up. Hopefully it will ban my URL as well. Then they won't ever have to worry about my URL being there again. So I'll continue to publish just the same until such time arrives.
For those of you who do use BZ, and are happy with re-writing your new article evey time you wish to submit something. More power to ya! Really. I hope it continues to work out for ya. It could be a semi-descent stepping stone for newer bloggers to gain some noteriety. As for me and this discussion posting, this is just my rant. A shaking off the dust in a sense and moving forward.
And NO. Even though it was a relatively rude response on the BC users part, I won't give their name out. I'm not like that.

I got that email, too, but I couldn't make any sense out of it. I think that I may have signed up with Blogging Zoom (I must have), but I've never really used it. But I'm impressed that you were able to figure out what that email was about (if, in fact, you've deciphered it correctly). The grammatical errors were so dense that I assumed I was misunderstanding it, and the "insert_your_email_address_here" address almost got it deleted as spam before I realized what it was. All in all, my impression was that it didn't come from a particularly professional organization.
-
Yeah MadameX, I noticed that as well. The extremely poor grammar was rampant. The first couple times I read through it, I thought I was reading one of those "Nigerian Princess in distress, You've just won the International-Irish-Microsoft online lottery, your e-mail was chosen" e-mail scams of one description or another.
And I too almost inadvertantly hit delete, until I was able to pull Blooging Zoom out of the mish-mash.
But it's no real loss to me as the site wasn't generating me much traffic at all. It's almost sad to say, BlogRush was almost generating me more traffic on a week-to-week basis than BZ was. And I ended up dumping BlogRush by the third week.
I wouldn't personally list them as being in the unprofessional category, but more so just not as prepared as they should have been to organize and contend with the inner workings of what they were neck deep in. -
Maybe I'm overly particular because of my writing and editing background, but I find it very hard to take seriously a company that sends out business correspondence with language like this in it: "This rules including the 350 character minimum are for the benefit of both the blogger and Blogging Zoom. Because of this rules we are growing at a rapid pace. All the bloggers that are following this rules are getting 10 times more traffic then those that are lazy and do a copy paste."
-
-
I got it and thought it was aimed directly at me, I know Vic has had some problems recently. But its never got me any traffic 8 posts submitted and 8 gone hot. All from a blog that that he says is 'LMAO you must be kidding, this blog is crap another rehash of rehash. I just do not get it the guy has 40 feed readers LMAO what a joke'
-
Your blog was described as a "rehash of rehash?"
That's rather lame. Especially when ur batting 100% on posts there with 8 of 8 going hot.
As for feed readers.. i never really paid much attention to that to be honest. I know with actual page visits, according to BlogFlux Mapstats, I average about 35 Uniques a day with a total of around 60 pageviews overall.
Beyond that, I couldn't tell ya what other traffic I may be generating.

I don't understand what the problem is with inserting part of the post in the submission. Is blogging zoom worried about being penalized for duplicate content or something?
Personally I kind of like when people put part of the posts in there, it gives me a chance to preview the post before I click through for the entire thing.-
Yeah, that was part of my problem with the overall as well. Why, after already creating an article once, would I create an entirely new article based on the same thing?
Why wouldn't I just write two separate articles on my own blog then with exactly the same premise, just different wording and get twice the exposure on my own site.
It just didn't make sense to me.
P.S. I just had a third article with duplicate content go HOT on BZ.
DAMN that duplicate content already!
-
I think you guys are misinterpreting that email. What it is referring to is the submission description...where you write a short summary of what the post is about. They want unique content for that part...not a completely different article than what you post on your blog.
It's not difficult to do.-
Nope, there's nothing hard about it, and writing an independent summary is far more effective in most cases than just cutting and pasting a piece of the post or article. My only concern is that business communications should be comprehensible, and if they're written in English they should apply basic principles of English grammar.
-
-
-
Ouch, no need for that. If anything, perhaps a change to the submission guidelines. But I don't see a need for shutting them down. Would be a bit over the top for my one displeasing experience.
Besides, even though I wasn't happy with my experience, like I mentioned above it could be used as a somewhat descent step off point for newer bloggers to get some noteriety.
But yeah, shutting them down wouldn't be my choice. Would look more like a vengeance thing than anything. -
Yeah, that was part of my problem with the overall as well. Why, after already creating an article once, would I create an entirely new article based on the same thing?
Because every time you do that a duplicate content penalty is assessed. And it is not a new article it is a snippet of 350 characters.
I made a test and my 11 year old daughter took 1 minute to write a 350 snippet of a post. The problem is people are so lazy that they do not even read the instructions correctly but then take the time to cry like little girls.
People are constantly asking themselves why Blogging Zoom ranks higher then their own post. Well because when you copy paste to a site that has more authority then yours you just gave yourself the worst part of the duplicate content even though it is your original content.
So in fact you are whining about a rule that is meant to protect you the blogger. How Sad
You folks wonder why you have no traffic on your blogs? Because instead of spending time in a circle jerk you go get links for your blogs by submitting to article services and Directories.-
Actually, a 350 character snippet will not draw a "duplicate content penalty" (something of a misnomer, anyway, since duplicate content isn't really penalized so much as it is ignored).
You're making some big assumptions, aren't you? Like that the people in this thread have "no traffic". And that the official statements of Google, Yahoo and Ask! stating that snippets are NOT considered duplicate content are lies. And that "then" is the appropriate word to place in this phrase: "a site that has more authority then yours"...hm. That horribly constructed email I received from Blogging Zoom made the same error. -
vifra = Vic
And Vic has a hard time making friends because he doesn't know how to do anything but cuss, rant and rave while going out of his way to be a complete waste of oxygen and space.
As far as Blogging Zoom goes - when I used it (before realizing what kind of a person Vic is) I had no complaints. In fact it got me some fairly decent traffic spikes. But then I dared to write an article saying it was too easy to go "hot" and Vic and his goons went ballistic. Comical really.
It's really too bad because in the interest of being controversial he's alienated a lot of people who could help him. Once everyone gets over his shock value he'll be dropped and forgotten.
-
-
Well, I suppose I should mention that a google search for my blog of "Hoopy Frood Dude" or my URL of "http://hoopyfrooddude.blogspot.com/" doesnt register any blogging zoom hits, at least no where in the first 10 pages. I haven't bothered to look beyond that.
And I really doubt it has to do with laziness, especially when a person syndicates out to multiple outside sites. It's more about convenience it seems.-
MadameX Googles algorithm searches for based on strings if you would like to test it out go to copy scape and copy 350 characters form your site and go to Sphin and make a submission with copy paste wait till it gets indexed and go to copy scape it will not pass you will get a duplicate content warning. Copy Scape uses Googles API for the test.
-
I think that rather than relying on a copy and paste test and making a guess about whether or not Copyscape imposes the same standards as Google (the fact that they're using the same system obviously doesn't mean that they'll treat the results identically), I will rely on what I was told directly by representatives of Google, Yahoo and Ask, including Adam Lasnik. I just don't have any reason to think they'd lie and tell me something was okay with them if it wasn't.
As far as the traffic goes...I'm glad you're able to amuse yourself so easily. Since anyone who has been in these forums for more than five minutes knows that I don't promote my personal blogs and have never made any claim to impressive traffic numbers on any of them, I'm not exactly sure what you think you're revealing.
-
-
MadameX sorry I missed the traffic part after looking at all your free blogger blogs and your Alexa yes at least I was right with you. NO TRAFFIC!! LMAO
-
@ vic i received your message as well, never signed up though, but your site does have a gui
unfortunately i would not be using it because i never felt like even after your post
and hell yes im lazy as hell to write 350 words of unique content for you
i dint know that till date, but
i wouldnt waste my time on 350 words, i dont belive you guys did that
damn you need to get paid for it
hope u guys got some traffic atleast -
ThriftShopRomantic what business? This is a free service we provide to bloggers. Please explain to me why an adult needs to be treated as a baby. This is about rules and people not following the rules. Amazing how supposed adults whine like little girls. Just Sad
-
My comment wasn't about the issue of rules. Every organization or, yes, free service has to have its rules-- or else there's chaos.
My comment was directed at the level of professionalism in dealing with those who don't comply with the rules. Or simply question them. Where it appears that personal retaliation and juvenile name-calling is considered the appropriate solution to ensure compliance.
-
-
ThriftShopRomantic in a span of the 90 days that the service has been available more then 6 different post where made most by Court who is the most politically correct person in the world. It gets to a point when the blogger is not helping the other bloggers in a community to say enough is enough. Why should I be a darling with a person who neither respects the service his fellow bloggers from the community or himself enough to follow rules.
-
ThriftShopRomantic we have currently 2345 bloggers using the service which only you see here mmm what 3 and in total only 5 have made their crying post on how the service is treating them horrible I can find you right now for every blogger that is whining like a little girl 10 that love the service and the community. Whiners and cry babies will always exist it is what it is.
MadameX
But apparently not in English. Maybe you should consider sending out your official correspondence in a language of which you do have some basic command, hm? I'm not qualified to judge the quality of your Spanish or Italian, but the French looks solid. Maybe you should consider marketing your operation in Canada.
-
-
I am relieved, though, by the constant repetition of the idea that we're "whining like little girls". Up until now, I actually thought that I had the only little girl (or one of the few) who was prone to protest the quality of someone's grammatical expression!
-
Yes-- enough to know most of what was said, anyway.
I'm still a firm believer that interactions, no matter how large or small, or with one person or 1,000, are all important in how you present yourself.
And while the internet is a big world, and it's perhaps possible to write off a handful of people, presenting oneself in a public forum in a negative light is going to reach far more than the seemingly trivial five people it began with.
Viral marketing is both for good and for bad. It's always nice to remember that.
-
Well its obvious that vifra has no respect for his users. I can tell you right now that if someone complained about something on BlogCatalog whether I agree with it or not their opinion would not be disregarded without any compassion. I don't care if it is one user or one hundred thousand users, a complaint by anyone using my service tells me that I may be doing something wrong and is always taken seriously.
Even if I disagree with the persons suggestion or problem, I assure you it would be treated with respect and given a reasonable answer as to why their complaint was denied as opposed to openly mocking them and calling them a cry baby.
It would be interesting to see someone write a post about this thread and then post it on the bloggingzoom website to share vifras thoughts about the people who use his website with the blogging zoom community.
Since it only takes 5 diggs (oops I mean zooms) to reach the front page, it should be fairly easy to get people to get it to the top.
I would suspect that the article would be removed rather quickly because while they may not care if one person complains if the entire site starts to revolt I am sure their tune would change. -
In response to your article on your blog I haven't attacked you personally I moaned about the 350 characters , I have problems writing that many for my blog never mind rewriting about an article. What happens if you have a photo to submit, quite a few photobloggers would have trouble filling in the requirements.
I would however like to know why its possible to receive votes on bloggingzoom when the article submitted hasn't even been looked at. Is it possible for you to stop this.
On another note you attacked my blog for no reason in the first place on bloggerschoice unless it was just your way of doing things.-
The thing with the Votes was even hard for me in the first week to understand because it would happen to me. It actually took us two days to do some test to see if people where just voting for voting to try to get vote backs then we found something really interesting we looked at our stats and we looked at the live stats and found a few users not clicking out to the bloggers site but yet voting so we IM them and the response just made all the sense in the world. Simple they had read the article from the blogger on his blog and while looking at submissions at BZ he found the article he had already read and liked it so he gave it a Zoom. So here we are thinking that people are trying to play the system and all people where doing was supporting fellow bloggers for articles they had already read.
As for your blog I was a bit harsh it just drove me crazy I did not understand people voting for a site that has no readers and not info but then I saw that you ask for votes here at Blog Catalog and though how smart that was. BTW you should make a post about that.

Wow! A one hour commute home from work, and look at all the negativity.
I would suppose that the originating "cry baby" comment was a reference to me, since I originally posted this discussion. But it is also apparent, that the original heading of this discussion was not read, nor were the rest of my posts here in. Had they been, I suspect either,
A: There wouldn't have been the references being propagated to the majority of the discussion community, as I simply detailed my displeasure and later even defended Blogging Zoom as possibly needing nothing more than a change in submission requirements.
B: The "cry baby" term would continue to be used as the protagonist would appear to really care less, being under the misconception that blogging zoom was a major force in the blog community.
And I'm ok with that. If such references are a persons "cup-o-tea," then so be it. Who am I to judge a person who selects to use denigration over deliberation, right?-
Actually from my side no 95% of the comments did not go to you. The reason I did not address it is because it was already addressed on a link bait post from another blog that was made 3 days ago. Funny how negative thinks get 500 comments maybe if we where talking about world peace only five comments would be made LMAO.
-
Ahhhhh, so that is what got removed. Interesting.
Well, as I mentioned originally, this was not intended to be a negative post, but simply my rant about BZ. And I thought that would be the end of it for the most part. And it seems it was, as dialogue over my vexation was occurring.
Until.....
well, I suppose you all have already figured out the Until...
P.S. I noticed my submitted post this morning about the Britney Spears Hospitalization got deleted. Funny, all my previous posts are still there, along with my account.
hoopyfrooddude.blogspot.com/2008/01/britney-spears-hospitalized-almost.html
Damn! What do I have to do to get my account banned there?
-
-
I really don't get what all the fuss is about. OK, so I'm not the biggest BZ user because there are so many ways to promote a blog it's difficult to know exactly which avenues to pursue.
Anyway, when I submitted my few posts before I didn't re-write because I hadn't noticed anything saying so. Now that it's in big red text and we got an email about it, writing a couple of sentences is no big difficulty.
We should be grateful that sites like BZ exist because it gives us anther way to promote a site, potentially get more clicks from SEs and the SEO benefit of a back-link.
I'm actually going to be increasing my submissions and hope the site continues to grow in popularity.
April -
John if you want your account deleted and you URL banned from submissions no problem please just let me know and I will comply with your request.
-
Hey Vic, just noticed the mention of a IM.
You would be correct in your commenting that I didn't IM you there at BZ. I did however, Shout to you HERE at BC, where the invite to BZ originated, hoping to be able to dialogue with you about my qualms.
Having not received a response in either form after a few days, this discussion ultimately became the last resort.
And it seemed to have finally worked, and even required over a day at that to receive a response.
In the end, my problem has been resolved. And that's all I wanted.
And like I said in my opening message, I hope BZ continues to work out for the 2300+ bloggers who use it. After all it took to get my desired result, I bear no ill will.

John unfortunately the email notifications from Blog Catalog went to the same email server so I did not know that you had left a message. When we finally restarted the email server an hour ago I received tons of notifications from Blog Catalog form friends added to messages. It was a shame that you had to start BZ exactly in the beginning of a server hack.
Best of luck.

I am a HUGE BZ user. Almost every post on my video site gets submitted. The reason for this is that not only does this post on BZ get me an extra entry in the search engines, but I can make the BZ a KEYWORD laden submission, specificly targeting my keyword or words. Where as my origianl article may be written for my readers, my BZ submission is packed (not to a spammy level) with keywords.
At first I was concerned when I was being outranked by BZ for my own keywords, but then I started to watch my numbers on my other submissions. I was getting more pageviews, more unique visitors.
So following Vic's suggestions, I started to highly target my keywords. By this time I was heavily into my funny video site and just started to submit my articles as well. Not only was my articles getting visits from BZ, but they were clicking my adsense. I still get visitors (unique ones) from older submissions.
Because I'm using BZ to get more search engine traffic, I could care less if my submissions get little to no votes, but they do get some votes. But, I do support those BZ users who have voted for me, or added me to their friends list. Every two or three days, I check out their recent submissions; if I like them, I vote, if not, I go to the next one.
My advice, if you want to use blogging zoom or try it out, follow the submission rules. Heck, check out the blog (it was down due to hacking a few days ago) for suggestions on how to get your keywords into the submission. If you don't like it, fine, don't use it. It is not only a free service, but that's the great thing about the Internet: if you don't like it, don't use it.
As for Vic, he's an aquired taste. If you don't like how he says something, then you'd REALLY better not check out his personal site at blogger unleased DOT com. I do have him beat in one reguard, I'm probably the worst native english speller in history
-
After reading this rather long and energy draining debate, I rather agree with April's breath of fresh air comment.
I've submitted quite a few posts to BZ and have never had any gripes about the system. To write 350 characters over four short sentences briefly describing the topic of my post is no great hardship as I can see the benefit of the additional promotion.
I can also see the negative side of simply copying and pasting a portion of the post to cover the description. I get very cross when I see scrapers (content thieves) copying the first paragraph or so (sometimes the whole) of my articles and posting them in their spam-blogs, so why would I deliberately do the same thing to myself in BZ or any other SN site?
All this arguing is a negative drain on everyone's valuable time.
To my way of thinking, if there is a TV program I don't like, I change channels and watch something else. I wouldn't sit there watching it just getting angrier and angrier!
Same applies to BZ. If you don't like to write the 350 character summary, then don't submit it to BZ and get angry about it, submit it to Digg and get on with enjoying your blogging!-
I don't think anyone in this thread is particularly concerned with the 350 characters...the vast majority of the issues raised in this discussion has been with regard to the virtually incomprehensible communications, Vic's three-time characterization of the expression of concerns on the part of his clientele as "whining like little girls"...and possibly the fact that he resorted to tossing insults in foreign languages rather than making any effort to actually support his position.
But then, you can read, so you already know all that and are responding as if to an entirely different discussion. That, combined with the fact that this is only the second comment you've ever made in the BC forums (and the first one since August) is very revealing.
-
-
Madam x,
On the contrary, there seems to have been rather a lot said about the 350 characters, which is the portion of this discussion I was responding to.
As for the badly written emails, I received them too but didn't take them to heart because I do not copy and paste, therefore they didn't concern me. That chap wasn't tossing insults in Spanish, by the way - its his native language, not English which goes some way to explain his grammatical errors.
As for the frequency of my commenting in BC forums, why should you make an issue out of it? It doesn't say anything at all about me. -
Folks are taking this stuff way too serious and getting bent over nothing. The dude at BZ offers you a fantastic way of promoting your blog. Use it like he asks and you will benefit. Don't and you won't. Pretty simple. He's offering the service to you for free. I doubt he cares one bit if you use it or not (actually underneath his gruff I imagine that he does care, he wants people to succeed apparently). Personally, I think if you want a blog to be noticed on the web you should probably use every resource at your disposal. BZ and BC are just two of many. Use them all. Follow the rules and be happy. Why you people are taking Vic so personal is beyond me. And 350 original characters are nothing for the potential promotion.
-
Ohh now that people show up that have a different point of you then you have also something to say about them. It was easy when it was just me right. You are so sad MadameX
-
I didn't casually show up, I read a reference to this thread in BZ. That's how I knew about it, I'll be perfectly honest - no cloak and dagger stuff. I came along to see what the furore was about as, like many people, I have a curiosity streak.
Granted, I didn't see the comments that were deleted before I showed up, so to me this looked a little one side so I felt it fair to balance things up a bit with a fresh viewpoint.
I apologise if I'm encroaching upon a closely knit group. Perhaps the frosty reception is one of the reasons I don't feel welcome to post here. I'll go now and get on with some productive work and leave you good people alone. -
Why does the fact that I've never bothered to post in here both you so much? I've taken the time to have my blogs claimed in here so in that regard I have the privilege of posting or not posting when and how I see fit. I do support Vic 100%. Looks like your supporters are rallying around you and BC. Not sure why the fuss if I decided to speak on behalf of a system that I support.
-
That's fine, splork. If you "support" a person in a quasi-professional position accusing his clientele of "whining like little girls" and making comments about a poster so offensive that they had to be removed by an administrator despite being in a foreign language, that's your call. It tells us a lot about you. I just found it interesting that vifra had to leave the site and gather up some friends to come back and support him.
-
-
I post here all the time.
In fact my first response in this thread was before it even turned ugly...this started over a supposed requirement of writing 350 words.....which was wrong. So the entire ugly thing was because someone didn't take the time to read the rules when signing up or the multiple reminders that you need to write 350 original characters when submitting.
It isn't hard.
Vic of course didn't make it any easier but I don't blame him for being defensive when the original post was a rant, written by someone who was wrong, and seemed hell bent on spreading the WRONG information.
Life doesn't have to be so hard....yet some of you make it that way.-
Heya BlogE,
That would actually be incorrect, that this was over writting 350 words. If you RE-READ what I wrote in my opening message/rant, you'll notice I simply stated, "A wonderful e-mail shows up talking about how horrid and terrible it is to copy and paste text from the originating content into the Blogging Zoom submission."
As a matter of fact, if you'll notice, not once in any of my posting in this thread did "I" mention 350 words OR characters. My rant, was over having to re-write...period.
'nuff said.
Besides, there's really no need for any further commenting as my issue has been resolved.
Thanks to all who participated in assisting me getting my desired end result.

Wow. Just Wow. This is one of the reasons I stopped participating in discussions over here. If I want to watch an argument in progress, I'll let the trolls have at it on my blog where I have a little bit more control.
I'm a BZ supporter, but I wasn't asked to come take a look. Several bloggers have already written about this thread and I just followed the link. In Vic's defense, if you can get past the colorful language and grammar, he really does want to help people. He doesn't need you or me to support him in any way -- he makes a living online. He doesn't dabble in it.
Some of you might think of BZ as a business, but if you look closely, you'll see that it isn't monetized at all. I would classify it as merely a service until it is.-
To each his own, RT. Free service or for pay, there's a minimal level of clarity and civility that one expects in a quasi-professional setting--or at least some of us do. Vic's supporters have made it very clear that name-calling and hurling accusations at the clientele seems like a great way to do business to them, and have endorsed his decision to associate his business with hostile, denigrating comments. We simply differ. He's shown his true colors quite clearly, and some like them and others have higher standards.
-
-
Well, you guys sure did beat this mule! Like RT, I followed this over here because I was curious and had seen several references. Now I'm curious as to why you are all still arguing!
Yes, I am a Vic supporter. Yes, his language and grammar are pretty rough around the edges. Yes, he is opinionated. Yes, he gets himself in trouble! Still, I am sure you can see that I am able to read and write. The very existence of others that write with poor grammar and cuss words doesn't insult me to the core of my being, or 'put me off my game'.
You know, some simple looking around at BZ in the first couple weeks it started up and I saw the 350 characters and the 'no copy paste' thing. I was guilty of the copy/paste, so I quit doing it. The email later on was completely understandable to me when I got it. Yeah, I guess if I was a paying customer of BZ I would have read it a little different. Of course, its free so I figured they can run it however they want to. By this time I 'knew' Vic, so I just smiled as I deleted it. Maybe I've got pretty thick skin, but it wouldn't occur to me to take it as a personal attack.
As far as BZ goes, I really like it. It only crashed on me the one time, when it was hacked. All my articles got 7 + zooms, probably because I read a lot of articles and zoom them if I like them. I get some traffic from BZ, but the best is all the friends I've made over there. It's too bad your experiences weren't as positive as mine, but I always look for positive and almost always see it. There are some pretty good blogs submitting over there and I may have never found them without it.
My mom taught me "It takes two to tango." Vic might have been out of line and insulting or worse to you, but you guys like to tango, don't you?
I hope everyone has a great night regardless.-
I think the incomprehensibility of the email was aggravated for me by the fact that I'm not at all familiar with BZ. Several users who have commented here have talked about this copy paste issue coming up before, which probably makes all the difference in the world. I don't use the site, and didn't have any idea what the issue might be--I had nothing to go on except the badly worded email.
The email itself came as a surprise to me because I don't think I've ever used BZ. I did go back and find some Shoutbox spam advertising it and so suspect that maybe I went over and signed up when I got that and then never went back and forgot all about it--although I'm not even sure about that, because I tried to delete my account after getting the email and it seemed that I already didn't have one.
I suspect that the email looked very different, both in terms of having any idea what it was talking about and in terms of understanding why the author felt the need to make the point if you were an actual user of BZ. As someone whose initial reaction was "why am I getting this email?" and then went to some trouble to try to work out what it meant, only to discover that I didn't even seem to have an account, it was a bit perplexing even before Vic started calling us names over here.

I can see how it would be confusing if you weren't a member. Like BlogEntrepreneur said, though, it would go where the rest of the spam that I receive goes. I probably get at least 3 spam messages a day, and none of them make sense so I don't even read long enough to see the word 'Viagra' before the 'ole delete button is depressed.

On a side note, I cannot believe that it took me, more or less, 20 minutes to read the entire discussion. Although it was a long, it surely was entertaining.

I think it's hilarious and I've spent less than 5 minutes reading. Of course, I'm only well versed in the English language, so had to skip over the section(s) wherein other languages were written. Slow readers and bad grammar doesn't bother me (especially from those to whom English is not a native language), but sexism really chaps my arse. Can't we be whiney something-else? I've seen enough boys cry, why is it just whiney girls?

Wow. Just wow. This was like watching a school yard fight in some ways, but it was enlightening in that, I probably will not be checking out BZ anytime soon now. Not if this is indicative of the kind of "service" I would receive.

Square1,
Please do not take my incident as being the Norm. I simply dropped the bomb from utter frustration. It was disappointing to say the least that a site would be hacked so easily, which in turn created the situation that provoked my ire.
It is possible, that BZ may still hold some form of positiveness for the 2300+ users they report it as having. And I'm sure they probably have room for a couple more. I'm just not one of them anymore.
So please don't refrain from trying them out due to my one incident.

Johns,
Technical difficulties and slow service I understand, especially when it is offered free of charge. Rude handling of complaints on the other hand is not something I care to subject myself to, especially not the kind of response I've seen you and others receive here in this forum. I would expect anyone running a service to be able to refute a complaint with some sense of decorum. At least that's my take on the situation.
