Do you know of any plug-ins that can be installed to permit registered users the ability to leave transcriptions on their site, like is being done here on this site, or on Twitter or with Facebook's Wall-to-Wall. Seems like this would be a popular plug-in.

Simple answer is to spend time browsing twitter sites .. like twitter.com/downloads or twitter.pbwiki.com/Apps or browse our Twitter group www.blogcatalog.com/group/twitter

Another good place to start is with the Twitter API.
    apiwiki.twitter.com/

And of course, you can generate all sorts of RSS feeds and run them through an aggregator on your site (This is probably the easiest way to set up something fairly customized).

Ok wow I did not realize there was so much Twitter integration. Thank you for introducing me to that.

I looked through those pages. I am not looking to integrate with Twitter. I am looking to give visitors on my site the ability to post a message, much like you can do on a person's Facebook or MySpace profile.

Do you know any specific plug-ins that do this?

That IS integrating with Twitter. As far as i know, right now, you'd have to roll your own with the API to do that.

Are you talking about the "Shoutbox" that you see on the right side of a person's profile here on BlogCatalog ?

No not the Shoutbox jaffermaniar, but the discussions feature we are using here for this conversation.

DaneMorgan are you familiar with azrul - tinyurl.com/2uono8. I am interested of your input.

    Oh a Forum ?

The best forum module out there which I can recommend is PHPBB www.phpbb.com/
I've tried it myself and it's free !

If you have a WordPress blog - have a look at bbPress bbpress.org/ It's fast and more lightweight but not as powerful as PHPBB

bbPress might do the trick, as long as a page like this (bbpress.org/forums/) can be loaded by users on the Wordpress blog, which appears to be the case.

I forgot about bbPress. Have known about it but never utilized it. Thank you jaffermaniar.
