I like them equally for different reasons. Twitter was actually helpful recently when a blogging friend in a group I belong to became very ill. We could contact each other quickly about his status.

Facebook, with its Networked Blog area and sharing ability, has been helpful for making folks aware about new posts. Its attached graphic and ability to give an extra summary (which you wouldn't get with Twitter) seems to entice people to click.

Also, I can keep up with what a number of non-bloggers I know are up to.

I think i like both since they serve two different purposes
    1. alvintlh
what is the pros and cons?
  3. crpitt
    Totally different.

    Arsenic or a brick?

Like how you can slowly get used to Facebook if you try a little each day, but once you go Twitter, it's over. You're posting about restaurants, bowel movements and that weird feeling in your shoulder.
    2. crpitt
Have you been following me on twitter?

    3. ismsandologies
lol, I'm speaking from personal guilt. You outed yourself.
    4. crpitt
      God damn it! lol

For me, it's two entirely different groups of people. My FB friends don't really Twitter and my Twitter friends aren't necessarily my FB friends.

Of course, Twitter encourages my Tourette's and I tend to spout things in a 140 characters or less that I would never say in public.

i think they're too different to decide... although, i get a lot less spam on facebook (thank god...)

^I can interact more on facebook.

I deleted my Facebook account long ago. I use twitter in a limited way to chat with friends and to announce publication of new posts.

You go girl! I am with you. I on the verge of deleting my account but my love for Farmville gets in the way. What will happen to my cows {tear}?
    2. timethief
Cows? Cows tweet? Cows on twitter?
I probably don't want to know, but do tell about the cows anyway.
    3. owlbarn
Farmville is a game on Facebook where you get to maintain a virtual farm, take care of animals and grow pumpkins. My friends got me hooked to it.
    4. timethief
Good GAWD! Bored urban adults playing fake farming games ...
excuse me while I *rotflmao* (no offense intended)

I keep seeing questions like this and not understanding them. It's a little like "do you prefer chocolate or skiing?"
    1. timethief
      Good point.

I just checked the search box results

i liked them both, facebook is more personal.
    1. alvintlh
when will you use twitter then?
  10. DeadRooster
A better comparison would be Twitter and FriendFeed.

    (note: FriendFeed is clearly better).
    1. timethief
      I agree! Friendfeed is better.
    2. HelloAnnie
Agree. Facebook takes on everything for everyone. I feel dizzy whenever I visit facebook, like entering an arcade. I have to keep it cus other family members seem to be drawn towards facebook than twitter. If it is twitter, they would compare it with SMS text messaging. Why twit, when I can ring you up on skype to catch up with you or text you when I need a 10 minute run down of what you're up?

    Thanks everyone for the comments!

It's interesting to find out that:
    1. friends in Facebook don't really Twitter and friends in Twitter aren't necessarily using Facebook.
    2. Twitter and Facebook serve two different purposes.

So what are Pros can Cons between Twitter vs Facebook?
  12. aidilrazak
I think we need both. And we like both.

    Twitter-

Pros: we like because its simple and easy to use.And you can get connected/updated real fast.

Cons: others than search, updating, look what others are doing, out of all the simplicity,we crave for more. we want to play games with friends and see all their photo albums and stuff. Thats when we turn to facebook

    Facebook:-

Pro:- games, friends, more games and apps, show your personality.connect with old friends.what more can you ask?

Con:-sometimes,the loading time can be a little bit a hassle (thats why I think FB is coming out with a lite version) and when we want something simple to connect with people or even celebs,we turn to Twitter.

thats why I think,we love both

      this is great tips!
  14. arielkrodot
I prefer facebook, cause we can play poker games.
    1. alvintlh
facebook has many cool applications and games.
  15. alvintlh
To know how Facebook and Twitter can complement each other rather than compete with each other, visit my latest blog post and watch the video.
  16. stayfitbug
    both are good for business
    1. alvintlh
Both can be very good for business if we know how to use them.
  17. NatetheGrate
If I had to choose, I'd vote for the immediacy of Twitter.
  18. gtally
My Facebook strategy has been more successful than my twitter strategy, although twitter has brought my business two very important leads.
    1. alvintlh
      congrats!

I think this should not even be a question---the answer is so obvious; it's Facebook.
Twitter is boring, and you've got to have 1,000 followers before it could actually drive traffic to your site.

Facebook is --SOCIAL NETWORKING---Twitter is like SMS to people you don't even know. Facebook has more applications, more things to do, pictures, images, videos, apps, and you can send a message without any limit to your characters. You can send notes, create pages, network your blogs, add the feeds of your site, and link updates of your blog. I can interact and socialize more on FB . It's a bummer in Twitter because even their messaging system is limited to 40 characters.

Does Twitter have that? No! That's why Twitter sucks. Twitter is so overhyped.
I just have a Twitter because my blogging buddies have them and have invited me to use it.
Plus Twitter updates are arranged in a confusing manner.
Twitter cannot compete with FB because Twitter is NOT a social networking site. It's just SMS online.
REally nothing to do on Twitter other than posting updates of your blog . That's it.
    1. alvintlh
      Thanks for your sharing.
  20. mike2305
    Both are great
  21. JohnnCode
I think they are for different objectives, titter is to send short messages and Facebook is to create your full profile, play, create your page etc.
    1. alvintlh
I agree with you. They are for differnent purposes. In fact, both can complement each other rather than competing against each other.
  22. oreosmom
i love twitter. it's a lot quicker and simpler than facebook; facebook has changed too much and isn't good for anything anymore. in fact, it's almost trying to become twitter what with the new home page and constant status stuff.
    1. alvintlh
      Twitter is getting hotter now.
