Unemployed Workers Must Take A Drug Test?

Do you think that the unemployed be required to take a drug test? Is it a violation of our human rights? What do you think of this post?

Depends on what drug they're testing for. -
Why would a person be required to take a drug test if they are not employed?-
If they are taking unemployment benefits, they may be required to undergo random drug testing. This included all illegal drugs.

I don't understand why a drug test is needed for unemployment benefits - a portion of which is paid for by your previous employer, and a portion of which is paid for by the taxes you pay every week of your life prior to accepting the benefit.

That's outrageous they should at least pay you a nominal fee to test their drugs. -
A violation of human rights? I don't think snorting coke or shooting heroin is a human right.-
Drug tests are considered invasive, and unreliable - so if a person is denied unemployment benefits based on a faulty test that they had no choice in taking, you have violated their human rights.

Oh, that asinine debate again.
Lets randomly drug test welfare recipients, because we all know poor people smoke crack. Great.
Not to mention that you can't buy drugs with food stamps, rental assistance, medicaid, utility assistance, or 98% of welfare benefits - the system isn't set up to allow random purchases like that.

and anok, anyone who has ever received benefits would also full well realize the other 'problem' with their theory. Drugs are Expensive and people receiving benefits necessarily have very little money. DUH. -

I agree with the critics that this drug testing plan is unfair. It was the government that caused this recession. The unemployed should not have to undergo any other unnecessary things others than calling the unemployment line every other week. -

Deo- the proposal is about welfare recipients, the unemployment bit was brought up in the article because of the concern over rising unemployment, which could lead to rising welfare recipients.
But this argument has been around for a while. -
I don't think it's a bad idea to test welfare recipients for drugs but that is because I live in a town that about 75% or more are on welfare and about 65% of them if not more are crack heads. I wish I was lying
I also transport many people on welfare who try to sneak the alcohol on the bus and are going to a program for drugs in a day hospital. So I totally understand. The only way unemployed people should be tested is if they lost their job because of drugs or alcohol. I don't mean to sound harsh but trust me if you were with me for a week you would see why I think it's a good idea.
