Have you ever had a crush on someone and you can't explain why? Someone, perhaps, not so attractive?

For me, it's Bobby Flay. Don't ask why 'cause I dunno why.

    John Malkovich

There is no explanation for it.
    1. calais50
John is mine too. It's the voice and air of intelligence.
    2. MadameX
      Why no...no there isn't.
  2. DrowseyMonkey
    Finally, a good discussion, lol

I don't know who Bobby Flay is.

    My current crush is Vincent D'Onofrio {sigh}

    1. crpitt
      Hey I like him too
    2. DrowseyMonkey
yummy Not that I have a lot of photos of him or anything. This is an old photo of him, but even now he looks delish, with the extra weight and grizzled look. As I said ... yummy.

    3. newward
      @drowsey damn that's yummy - good pics
    4. ekim941
Maybe you like his melodramatic acting style
    5. DrowseyMonkey
Acting, oh yeah, I like his acting Ever see "Guy"? Some good soft porn there ... he has a delish azz. Okay ... somebody stop me.

      Thanks newward. he's mine tho
    6. ekim941
In that case, it's not a crush, it's simply unbridled lust.

Now go take a cold shower woman!!!
    7. DrowseyMonkey
lol ekim. Borderline TV obsession. Did I mention he's 6'4?? Size 13 1/2 shoe...okay, now I need to be blocked or something.
    8. ekim941
Oh no. Next you're gonna start talking about "Girth"
    9. DrowseyMonkey
      Don't tempt me.
    10. ekim941
I have my finger on the "report" button. Don't make me click.
    11. newward
LOL - you can have him - I'll just watch... I mean look.. oh hell you know what I mean.
    12. DrowseyMonkey
I kinda wanna be reported, everyone else has been. It's kind of the 'in' thing around here lately.

Then I'll start a discussion on how I was reported, and repeat in the thread what I said to get me reported.

And on & on it goes.

      @newward ---- Ohhhh I know
    13. newward
where the heck is my halo and sunglasses...
    14. Shiley
Now don't be sending people to see his naked butt drowsy.
    15. AngieA
That guy there is not an unexplainable crush, he's one of those totally understandable crushes.
      lol
    16. pointlessbanter
      Yeah he is cute....

    17. DrowseyMonkey
shiley, oh yeah...I still have those photos

pointless, okay ... not his best photo ... but he's still YUMMY!
  3. ekim941
Pffft, plenty of times. Everything from teachers to cashiers. Currently I have a crush on Emily Deschanel (From "Bones") And I have no idea what it is about her.
    1. DrowseyMonkey
I thought it was that Trump chick?
    2. ekim941
With Ivanka Trump, I know exactly why I have a crush on her. She's smokin hot
    3. DrowseyMonkey
I see a pattern here. I think you like bossy women.
    4. ekim941
      Duh, that's pretty obvious
    5. DrowseyMonkey
lol, okay ... I'm slow obviously.
    6. ekim941
I think they have to be bossy and really smart.
    7. JaneQCitizen
Well, I know exactly why I like her sidekick.
    8. DrowseyMonkey
@Jane - the guy who used to be Angel? He's a cutie. He's no Vincent tho.
    9. ekim941
      For the ladies and gentlemen:
    10. DrowseyMonkey
lol ... he looks kinda goofy in that photo. He's a nice looking man tho
    11. focusorganic
Ekim, I'm a straight woman and even I have a crush on Emily Deschanel.

      Carmine Giovinazzo on CSI:NY
    12. ekim941
Well thank you focus. I think
    13. DrowseyMonkey
There's a woman on CSI NY, with the curly hair, the main woman. I think she's lovely, I enjoy drawing her face, actually.
    14. focusorganic
Melina Kanakaredes. She has beautiful features.
    15. JaneQCitizen
My husband commented on her freaky long fingers once. I guess he was right. Those are kind of long aren't they.
    16. ekim941
The woman that plays the prosecutor on law and order it very pretty.
  4. JaneQCitizen
Bobby Flay -- arrogant, red head chef on Food Network. I think he had his own restaurant by age 20 or something absurd.

    Hmmm. Maybe it's the arrogance.
    1. DrowseyMonkey
oh, okay, I think I know who you mean.
    2. ekim941
Is arrogance an attractive quality for women?
    3. JaneQCitizen
Pfft. Who knows? LOL. It's all hormones.
    4. newward
@ ekim arrogance may get you in the door initially, but it'll also get you booted out quickly.

Maybe we think if he thinks so much of himself, it something we should be looking at too???
    5. DrowseyMonkey
well said newword, lol They're like the bimbos of the man world, good for a ride but not someone you wanna have stick around
    6. ekim941
So, Neward, the premise is that arrogance is a good thing but the booty should tame him down. Otherwise it would hurt your ego?
    7. newward
@ekim cute... Long answer: arrogance reflects confidence - but usually turns into cockiness (no pun intended, hehehehe). I do want someone in my life that is confident and speaks his mind, but will not be so arrogant as to think the world revolves around him.

Short answer: If the booty can tame him - what the hell
    8. MadameX
CONFIDENCE is a very attractive quality, and sometimes in the early days confidence and arrogance are difficult to distinguish.
  5. JaneQCitizen
Oh yeah! He was hunkier on Angel.
    1. DrowseyMonkey
yes he was. And all that internal drama ... lol
    2. JaneQCitizen
Did you see his nude episode? Ummm let me think I think it was the season 3 premier or perhaps season 4. It was the season after Buffy had "killed" him, and he came back -- dropped from the heavens with no clothes.
    3. DrowseyMonkey
Oh yes, I remember that fondly. Not fondling, fondly. But you gotta see some of Vincent's movies. Lots of nekkidness.
  6. kdawg68
I've had some weird ones (not surprising, right?)

-in my youth I had a thing for Phylicia Rashad from the Cosby Show. That was my first MILF.

    - I'm really embarrased to admit this one...for some reason Sandra Oh turns me on. I know, I know - she's hideous. But she looks like she'd be into some freaky stuff.

    - the Italian actress that plays the wife on King of Queens. Her name escapes me. Don't know what it is about her, but I find her very attractive.
    1. ekim941
King of queens is very unrealistic because of the matchup of Kevin James and that beautiful woman. So I agree with you on one. ONLY ONE!!!
    2. kdawg68
Hey now...I'm rather Kevin James-ish and I managed to pull a decent one.

But you're telling me you wouldn't have shagged Mrs. Huxtable?
    3. ekim941
nope. I was more into Lisa Bonet. She did that shoot with rolling stone and then that movie with Micky Rourke (I think it was wild orchid??).
      OMG she's hawt.
    4. DrowseyMonkey
that chick on king of queens is real bossy too! My hub complained about my bossiness, sheesh.
    5. ekim941
      Drowsey, stop psychoanalyzing me.

      It tickles
    6. DrowseyMonkey
lol ... something tells me you'd like that. This is all very insightful.

btw - I'm so glad you did that thread about the 'back to discussions' link at the bottom of the page. I never noticed that and it's so handy!
    7. ekim941
I should warn you Drowsey, I am not like most men, that's for sure.
    8. kdawg68
Lisa Bonet looked too much like an art major for me. Didn't she wear hats similar to that wardrobe malfunction in our favorite Teen Wolf Too clip (think of the hat Bateman is wearing as he leaps for the frisbee).

I'd have taken Tempest Bledsoe over her. Tempest looked more real to me.
    9. ekim941
You must be thinking of the eldest sister. I don't remember Lisa Bonet as wearing hats.
    10. ekim941
Oh, and Tempest was a little young. That's a big leap from the Mom to Tempest.

Believe it or not, I also had a major crush on the sister from "Growing pains"
    11. kdawg68
Tracy Gold? I think I liked her then as well. Remember, I was in Elementary School in the 80's, so age wasn't the inhibiting factor it is now.

Ever seen the police photos of Tracy Gold after she got a DUI with her kids in the car? I think thesmokinggun has them.
    12. ekim941
Sorry, I forgot, I got a few years on you. I saw an interview with Tracy Gold a year or so ago. She still looks great. She cleaned up nicely
    13. DrowseyMonkey
elementary school in the 80s? Way to make me feel ancient!
    14. ekim941
No Sheet. Time to take my geritol and change my depends.
  7. focusorganic
Ooh I thought of another one. Jesse Spencer on House.

And John Leguizamo... although I'm not too sure why. Probably because he's an amazing actor and he played a drag queen in To Wong Foo Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar... and it was believable.
    1. ekim941
      What? Not Dr. House himself?
    2. focusorganic
      Another one. Yes, him too!
    3. DrowseyMonkey
Oh no...no, no, no. I don't get that attraction at all. I've never been able to watch an entire episode of House, I just wanna hit him.
    4. ekim941
      Isn't John Leguizamo also a stand-up comedian?
    5. focusorganic
He's very good looking, even though he's only a few days younger than my dad... ha, I'm a youngin', apparently. And he's brilliant. And he doesn't take crap from anyone. (House, not John Leguizamo)
    6. kdawg68
I hate to admit this, but John L. is one of the actors I actually can't watch if he's in a movie. I think it was the clown thing he played in one of those comic book movies. Sort of reminds me of Gilbert Godfried in a weird way.
    7. focusorganic
Ekim, I don't know if he is.
  8. amtelemarket
I have unexplainable crushes almost daily but the one I most remember from my early twenties is with Rossana Arquette. She was very sweet and sensual.

    Rossana Arquette
    1. DrowseyMonkey
I can see that, she's very sensual ... and I say that as a straight woman
  9. focusorganic
I'm not going to admit to the crushes I had as a kid... it's embarrassing.
    1. amtelemarket
I've admitted only the non-embarrasing one
    2. DrowseyMonkey
oh, c'mon, now you gotta tell us.

I'll tell you one of mine. Michael Jackson. He was a guy back in the 70s.
    3. focusorganic
Ok, ok, but these really say my age. I had a thing for Joey from New Kids on the Block, Jonathan Taylor Thomas on Home Improvement when the show first started, and maybe a little one on Zach on Saved By the Bell.

I look back now and wonder why I had such bad taste back then...
    4. DrowseyMonkey
they're not so bad. Look at who I said! LOL

I also had a thing for the lead singer in the Bay City Rollers. That's kinda equal to New Kids, HA!
    5. amtelemarket
Michael jackson? That's embarrassing for sure!
    6. DrowseyMonkey
lol ... he was hot back when he was a black dude.
    7. amtelemarket
Honestly, I can't remember any embarrasing crush I had. Maybe my unconscious just covered my memories with a veil of pitiful forgetting
    8. LGramlich
Okay, if we're going to admit embarrassing childhood crushes, I'll fess up; Lee Majors. I have NO idea why & hope that most people here just won't know who he was. *LOL*
    9. legbamel
If I knew how to spell the sound effect for slow-motion, bionic running, I'd do it now.
    10. LGramlich
      @legbamel; I'm glad you don't. *LOL*
  10. ArtmodelNYC
I've always had a weird, twisted crush on Eric Roberts. Ever since I saw "Runaway Train".
    1. DrowseyMonkey
I don't think I know who that is. What else has he been in?
    2. kateblogs
Me too! I watched Runaway Train a couple of weeks ago - mmm :-)
  11. ArtmodelNYC
He's the older brother of Julia Roberts. "Runaway Train" was pretty much his biggest movie. He was in "Pope of Greenwich Village", "Raggedy Man". He never became a really big star. But he's "edgy", so they say!
    1. DrowseyMonkey
okay, I just googled him, I've seen him in a lot of stuff actually. Yeah, he's got that rugged thing going on.
  12. MsGo
    This guy:

    And this guy:

I think I have a thing for slightly bug-eyed men. I had crush on Jeff Goldblum for the longest time.
    1. calais50
      Weird!
    2. ThriftShopRomantic
To use a phrase from Fargo, Steve Buscemi is "kinda weird lookin-- weirder than most." Good actor, though.
    3. focusorganic
      Get off... the nuclear... warhead.

Steve Buscemi's character is great in that movie.
    4. RTBjr73
and why was his character great?

      "Because I'm a freakin' genius!!"
    5. ThriftShopRomantic
You ever see him in "Ed and His Dead Mother"? Very obscure, but kinda funny dark humor.
    6. focusorganic
Why did I not see this movie? It has to do with the undead... I should definitely have seen it on Netflix. Oh well, added it to my queue now
    7. MsGo
focusorganic and RTBjr73 and this is why I love those too. Plus they give off a funny-intelligent vibe.

Funny-intelligent men trump looks EVERY TIME.

      I also love Sam Rockwell.
  13. earthlingorgeous
Well, I don't need to explain why but I so have a crush on Orlando Bloom (his characters in LOTR and Troy to name a few); then there's Stuart Townsend (Lestat in Queen of the Damned) and Hayden Christensen (in Star Wars Episode II as Anakin, Life as a House)
  14. barryfromtexas
    I'm not sayin anything ...

  15. RTBjr73
    As a kid...no question...Lynda Carter

As an adult...Mariska Hargitay. YUMMY. She get's better with age.

    Enough said.

Sean Bean. It's so bad he even has a category on my blog. I know, it's pathetic LOL Failing that, I'll happily watch Johnny Depp or Antonio Banderas.

However, the crush I don't get is Ray Winstone. I have no idea why but I'm strangely drawn to him.
    1. ThriftShopRomantic
I get the Sean Bean thing.
    2. legbamel
The Ray Winstone pictured here: img.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2007/07_02/raywinstoneBIG2507_468x391.jpg ? Or the new, improved version in Beowulf blogs.guardian.co.uk/film/2007/07/how_did_ray_winstone_lose_30_y.html ? He's definitely much, much more attractive in the second pose.
  20. kateblogs
    @ ThriftShopRomantic

Nobody must ever repeat this, but, I was attracted to my husband because he sounded like him. He comes from the same part of the world, and has the same gorgeous, blokey voice and accent. We stayed together because he has other wonderful qualities though LOL
    1. ThriftShopRomantic
Yeah, I get that, too, Kate.

Heck, Sean Bean is EVIL or at least HALF-EVIL in almost ever role he's played. And he's still somehow likable.

T'aint right, but there ya go.

  22. kateblogs
    @ ThriftShopRomantic

I know! For some reason he is nearly always cast as a baddie in films, but he's still appealing. Here in the UK, he usually plays a good guy in tv stuff he does, it's weird that someone decided he should be evil. I suspect it's jealousy.

Have you seen him in Sharpe? In that, he wonders about with his shirt undone a lot. I watch it for the history and and drama, of course.
    1. ThriftShopRomantic
Oh, of course-- history. It's educational, doncha know. (I caught the end of one of them on BBCAmerica).
    2. crpitt
I loved Sean Bean in Sharpe phwoar
    3. kevinatserieatalk
I've read all the Sharpe novels, good stuff, he always gets the woo-man also

      Edward Cullen.

      en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_Cullen_(Twilight)

Wait, that url doesn't work because of the parentheses around Twilight. You'll have to copy and paste.
  26. DVS
    He's no vampire! Lol...
    1. sellytapgirl
You have to copy and paste the entire URL. If you juist click on it, it takes you to some bishop.
    1. MadameX
What exactly is hard to understand about that?
  27. DVS
Lol...ahh, and I already emailed the catholic church to let them know they had a vampire in their midst!
  28. crpitt
Have you ever had a crush on someone and you can't explain why? Someone, perhaps, not so attractive?

I think for me its pointless banter, heh
    1. ThriftShopRomantic
Aw, I can hear his ego swelling now.... Er, at least I HOPE that's his ego.
    2. DrowseyMonkey
      that is unexplainable claire. Wow.
    3. kevinatserieatalk
what is not so attractive mean? like bad teeth, bad breath? BTW I thought I look top drawer in my pinstripes.
    4. crpitt
I thought he would get pissed off with the unattractive thing but this has backfired, whoops
    5. DrowseyMonkey
You do know what that is on his hand in his avatar don't you claire? I made the mistake of asking him one time,
    6. pointlessbanter
I am a damn handsome man.
    7. DrowseyMonkey
I think we need a better photo pointles. Let's see. How about you replicate the one I posted of Vincent, with the suspenders.
    8. crpitt
Heck I said it was unexplainable
    9. MsGo
      Uh, because it's fun?
  29. sdk1988
My answer to that is yes, and I believe there has to be some cosmic connection with the laws of attraction! Something we can't explain nor will ever find the answers.
  30. spomib
Jason Statham...don't know why, but I can see any movie he is in without even checking it out beforehand. He is not really handsome, he is not a good actor, but something about him just keeps me coming back for more.
    1. focusorganic
I forgot about him! I see commercials for his movies and I feel like I have to watch... I don't even like the kinds of movies he acts in, and you're right, he's neither very good looking or a good actor...
  31. voodooKobra
I just thought I'd chime in, have a haughty laugh, and let you all know that I've never had a crush on anyone and feel superior because of that fact.
    1. amtelemarket
What ever happened to that KISS-like avatar? Are you becoming soft now?
    2. voodooKobra
I'm under a lot of stress and feel like changing my avatar frequently. I might eventually settle on one. Maybe.
    3. amtelemarket
Change is the only constant, right?
  32. Theresa111
Don't know why but Hugh Grant.
Gene Hackman's and James Spader's voices, in the voice over commercials.
    1. DrowseyMonkey
those 3 are kinda unexplainable, lol
  33. legbamel
I had the weirdest attraction to George Stephanopolous. I don't think he's good-looking or has an attractive personality or political stance, but for some reason I just loved to watch him. I think we've covered my "big nose" fetish elsewhere.
  34. marlyms
    Mine is Johnny Depp
    1. ThriftShopRomantic
Ah, but that's EASY to explain.
