   "Intense Debate" always messed up my template. I use "Brian's threaded comments" - I initiated them not long ago because I had too many comments and I had to respond in bulk (so I really can't answer the question of did it generate more comments, though it does generate, sometimes, second responses from initial commeters). Threaded is actually easier for me, and the commenter's seem to like it this way. The only thing I do not like is that by responding individually the comment count doubles because half the comments are mine, but as around fifty percent of the commenter's come back to see if I responded I will keep it.
   I think the commeters also like being able to comment directly under another comment - so sometimes the commenters respond to each other.

   I use intense debate, The only problem is some log in issues.
