If you're under 30 you probably don't remember the TV mini-series "V", in which an alien race came to Earth looking for resources and friendship only later to reveal themselves as rodent eating lizard-people. I know, the 80's were awesome! ABC is bringing the series back this fall, though more a "re-imaging" than a remake it will feature the things we "V" fans love about the original - hot chicks eating rats...oh, and cool space ships.

What do you think. Is this going to suck or not?

I have been waiting over 25 years for this.

    I'll be watching!

Damn, I'll be watching! I loved it first time around, even though it was kinda silly. Michael Ironside and Robert Englund rocked!

The kitsch of the original was part of its appeal.

I just hope the new series is BSG awesome. If not BSG, then I would settle for relaunched Doctor Who fun.

These things being successful are as rare as hitting an individual ant with a dart from 30 metres away. No doubt the special effects will be better. However, considering Sci Fi's abortive attempt to revive "Flash Gordon", my scepticism is on overdrive.

I am getting disks 3&4 of Season 4 Doctor Who today. Can't wait!

I loved "V"! I credit "V" with introducing me to the wonderful world of Sci-fi. It accomplished what Star Trek and Star Wars did not.

I just read that the new producer and writers are dumping the Holocaust allegory from the original series and pursuing an entirely new direction. This may or may not be good. BSG completely re-imagined the show in a darker, more complex way, and it made Starbuck a woman which was awesome.

It looks like the Holocaust/Collaboration themes of the original will be replaced by something more like worship. This will probably have some interesting to say about our lives. I'm not a man of faith, but I can see there being some message about the "empty" nature of our lives, our fixation with reality TV and how a strong message of leadership can inspire millions, even if it leads them nowhere positive.

Cats must be swallowed. Otherwise, it's a failure.

Ooho oooh ooh -- I was sooooo in love with V

SO many of them were totally cool.

I remember V, I'm below 30 though. Wasn't it a mini series that evolved into a not-so successful tv series?
    1. IndigoWrath
Yes indeed. After the original mini-series in 1983 and a second mini-series "V: The Final Battle" a year later, there was a single season of the TV show. This was fairly good, but it finished unexpectedly in 1985 on a cliffhanger.

I am once again complete. That TV show was awesome.

I still have nightmares featuring that lizard skin. I think I thought all people had lizard skin beneath their real faces for awhile. A re-imaging? I dunno.
