    Someone bought it, replaced it with rocks, and returned it. Apparently they didn't check it and they resold it.

    That's a funny story because it didn't happen to me. I read it and agree with FatX, too.

    It could have happened at the factory as a joke.
    A previous buyer did the replacing. Not sure if it was re-shrinkwrapped.
    The new buyer is scamming.

      I used to work at a gift shop. Returns were reshrink wrapped.

    I agree with everyone as well, previous buyer swapped out the DS w/ rocks and returned it. And if that is true, it's nice to know Wal-Mart checks out their returns

    OMG. It totally happens. Walmart, Best Buy, any big box store has employees and stock guys aren't angels.

    I worked retail for 10 years starting when I was 15. It happens. Employees steal. They open the box, take out the merchandise, replace it with something heavy, and then seal the box again.

    When stores do inventory, they only inventory the box. They don't check the box to make sure it has the merchandise inside, especially with things like electronics as it immediately makes the product unsellable at full price.

    I have worked big box, clothing, cameras and small electronics, high end furniture. Theft happened in every single store not matter what kind of store it was. The high end furniture store, the stock guys were selling weed out of the stockroom and regularly backing their trucks up to the back door and stealing linens, drapes, anything portable.

    If you go to Ebay, there is a huge HUGE black market for stolen home goods. If they claim they want to sell it on Ebay rather than return it to the store, why? All stores will take a return with a receipt, especially high end furniture and home goods stores. Why sell it on Ebay if it's brand new and legitimate.

      Yeah that's what I heard also.

    @Stillthinking - great info!

    I'm just wondering if it was an employee or a return from a customer. Definitely sounds like it would be easy for an employee or stock person to pull this trick off.
