Heads up BC blogger platform users. polybore has just noticed that the nav bar search function only has limited functionality.

Search term results are limited to terms found in post titles NOT the body of the post.

Turns out a large number of blogger users are effected (and have been for about a month)

Google are aware of the problem but if you are effected you might want to fill in a form that can be found at the link below to expedite resolution.

Bit of a pain really polybore is considering a workaround until it is fixed as the nav bar search was used quite a lot by visitors in the past. Not so much recently, but now we know why, because it has not been working.

Seems the google gadget search for blogger has the same problem. Have worked around it with an adsense custom search which although clunky does the job.

Do you mean the 'search this blog' thingy that goes in my sidebar?

No it is more the search blog in the blogger nav bar but you don't have one. Maybe polybore should dump theirs as well although thought this was agianst blogger TOS. Better check.

Interestingly your search this blog thingy is working fine some people are saying that theirs aren't.

      Bye bye polybore's navbar.

When I had my blog redesigned it was left it off, I think it is against TOS, but I don't know how to put it back.

Can't find anything in the TOS that explicitly forbids it's removal so have removed it. It's not working properly so don't feel to bad about it.

Have not discovered any instance of blogger taking measures against anyone for nav bar removal so is probably safe enough. If not it's your fault if poor old polybore gets stamped on by google.

Otherwise, have had a look at the html for your blog, if you want yours back it would be easy to do.

There is a restriction on nav bar removal. I found it before -- hang in and I'll find it for you. I think what it came to was that unless you use FTP you cannot disable or remove it.

The Navbar appears on all freely-hosted BlogSpot blogs, but can be disabled for users publishing via FTP.

Hmmmm ... not exactly forbidden but the implication is there.

Thanks TT, will take the chance. Ooh, living dangerously, how exciting.

Normally "My Activity Feed" will record all new blogs published, within a day or two.

I am a bit alarmed because "My Activity Feed" is recording all "Joined The Discussion" activities the very second they happen, but has not added "Published a New Blog Post" in a week. Censorship? Technical breakdown?

Polybore, is my problem at all related to the problem you are discussing here?

On the first reading it seems to be unrelated, will have a look and a think though.

      Nice blog by the way.
