Kenyan ecologist Wangari Maathai, the first African woman to win the Nobel Peace Prize, reiterated twice in public medias her claim that the AIDS virus was a deliberately created biological agent.

"Some say that AIDS came from the monkeys, and I doubt that because we have been living with monkeys (since) time immemorial, others say it was a curse from God, but I say it cannot be that.

"Us black people are dying more than any other people in this planet," Ms Maathai told a press conference in Nairobi a day after winning the prize for her work in human rights and reversing deforestation across Africa.

Now proofs begin to emerge:

i guess the problem starts when we start tampering with nature..plz stop having unprotected sex with animals!!

They should take back her Nobel Prize...she is a moron.

And any website that is more adverts than content is not proof.
    1. elitethinker
And what about Dr. Maurice Hilleman, who explained why Merck's vaccines have spread AIDS & other plagues worldwide
      www.youtube.com/watch?v=4W2MJbcgn1g

Don't know who Dr. Maurice Hilleman is ? From New York Times
      www.nytimes.com/2005/04/12/national/12hilleman.html?_r=1

"Much of modern preventive medicine is based on Dr. Hilleman's work, though he never received the public recognition of Salk, Sabin or Pasteur. He is credited with having developed more human and animal vaccines than any other scientist, helping to extend human life expectancy and improving the economies of many countries."

I'm not a scientist, and I don't really know if AIDs is natural, man-made, or brought here by aliens...but I do know that the following indicates absolutely no scientific knowledge at all:

"Some say that AIDS came from the monkeys, and I doubt that because we have been living with monkeys (since) time immemorial"
    3. elitethinker
That's why I posted another link with Dr. Maurice Hilleman for he's not only any scientist, he is THE scientist who is reknowned for vaccins (see New York Times above). He was employed by Merck and he testified about Merck.

By the way as for I'm an engineer with Biology and Statistical majors.

As for the guy of the site, I agree I won't trust him, it's just he points to interestig primary sources which are official sources.
    4. Epicharis
I'm not arguing with you, I just think she is a moron who should do some research before claiming AIDs is some kind of slow genocide.
    5. elitethinker
Why do you think she didn't: you won't surely make such claims without enquiring before huh ? Since there are now testimonies like the one I just gave from undisputable reknowned scientists ?

Since there are undisputable testimonies, why are you afraid
    6. Epicharis
Because her argument was that monkeys never gave us AIDS before so why should they now? It doesn't take a biology degree to know that that's not how it works...
    7. elitethinker
My point was not about her whatever her arguments, I just use her as an introduction to Dr. Maurice Hilleman testimony which is the real center of this post. I don't care about opinions, I care about facts from People who were the ACTORS of the story not simply spectators.
    8. Epicharis
      Read my original post.

You evade the debate don't you ? Tell me what you think about what the discoverer of aids said himself as reported in London Times:

      www.newsint-archive.co.uk/pages/S.asp?pubsel=TIM&SrchText=SMALLPOX&DateFrom...

"Dr Robert Gello, who first identified the Aids virus in the US,
told The Times: 'The link between the WHO programme and the epidemic in Africa
is an interesting and important hypothesis. 'I cannot say that it actually
happened, but I have been saying for some years that the use of live vaccines
such as that used for smallpox can activate a dormant infection such as HIV. 'No
blame can be attached to WHO, but if the hypothesis is correct it is a tragic
situation and a warning that we cannot ignore.' Aids was first officially reported from San Francisco in 1981 and it was about two years later before Central African states were implicated. It
is now known that these states had become a reservoir of Aids as long ago as the
      later 1970s."

    10. Epicharis
Seriously...I'm not having a debate with you...my only point has been that the woman you quoted in your OP didn't know what she was talking about and just sounded like an idiot, and that your original link was dodgy.

The best proof we have that HIV causes AIDS is that the anti viral drugs that treat HIV prevent AIDS from emerging. QED.

As for the idea that it is somehow genetically engineered, I find this in the same category as the various theories about who shot President Kennedy: people will read into the facts the interpretation that best suits their political outlook. If you want to see conspiracies lurking in every corner, you will see conspiracies in this. However, it would be very odd to unleash a virus in the manner in which it spread, and costing the West billions (if not trillions) of dollars in finding a cure.

We should keep in mind that plagues have attacked mankind in the past, such as Bubonic Plague, without any original malign intent. I suggest AIDS be considered in that spirit.

Some are just theorizing, that doesn't interest me.

Others are exposing facts by primary sources:

None of us are scientists. None of us can definitively say what has cause AIDS to spread faster among African peoples than the rest of the world.

Here is an excellent short documentary by Frontline on one theory of the spread of AIDS due to the polio vaccine being cultured in monkey blood.

Thanks for link, will look at it.

But here it's not about being scientist or not, it's about SOURCES of testimonies : when it comes from the GUYS who are the leaders in the field, how can you continue to ignore what they said ?
  6. elitethinker
Forget about her ok: I don't care much about what she said, but about what the scientists implicated are saying including the one who discovered aids why don't you want to comment about their saying ? Maybe you fear something
    1. Epicharis
no, I just don't feel like commenting. Why? are you blaming me for AIDS?
    2. elitethinker
Why you feel like commenting in one case when it wasn't worth and not in the other case when it is ?

OK you don't want, I wont insist
    3. Epicharis
Because I didn't have anything to add. I don't know enough about AIDS to comment on whether it was synthetically fabricated or not. Do you want my uninformed opinion? It seems unlikely.

'Much of modern preventive medicine is based on Dr. Hilleman's work'

    Surely Edward Jenner?
  8. harveyavatar
Oups, didn't notice those links had been taken down.

Here is the full documentary: video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-266890172132861595

    Synopsys
"Take an unflinching look into an issue the mainstream media doesn’t dare touch: the failure of the multi billion-dollar war on AIDS. The Other Side of AIDS gives voice to a growing movement of doctors, scientists, journalists, and HIV positives who reveal a tangled web of conflicts of interest, political correctness and unresolved errors surrounding AIDS."

The question "Is Aids even a virus?" resumes the difference in analysis amongst top medical researchers in the documentary. I have sent the link to a couple people who have had working knowledge in this area, and will be very interested in hearing their response. As for seeing a conspiracy at every corner, I don't see what this has to do with asking questions. I could just as easily say "if you want to see coincidences at every corner etc." Btw, "consipracy theory", is a rhetorical figure coined by the Tavistock Institute of Human Relations in the 1960s, in which Edward Bernays played an important role. His plan to manipulate the mind of the masses can be read in his 1928 book "Propaganda".

We have here a "primary source".

"Peter H. Duesberg (born December 2, 1936 in Germany) is a professor of molecular and cell biology at the University of California, Berkeley, best known for identifying and mapping the src gene, considered the first true oncogene, in 1970,[1] and more recently for his claims that HIV is harmless and not the cause of AIDS.

Duesberg, along with Peter Vogt, was one of the first scientists to discover a cancer gene (oncogene). In 1970, Duesberg and Vogt reported that a cancer-causing virus of birds had extra genetic material compared with non-cancer-causing viruses.[1][2] At the age of 36, Duesberg achieved tenure at the University of California, Berkeley, and at 49 he was elected to the National Academy of Sciences. He received an Outstanding Investigator Grant (OIG) from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in 1986, and from 1986 to 1987 was a Fogarty Scholar-in-Residence at the NIH laboratories in Bethesda, Maryland."
