Think about this for a minute.
What is the most popular websites on the internet today?
Facebook
Myspace
Youtube
...and more
But one thing this website have in common is how they are designed. They all have a white background and easy to use. And did you noticed that after Facebook got so popular, Myspace started to change and become more similar to Facebook.
And my theory about why this is so damn addictive. I mean you know how addictive Facebook is.
The white color is addictive color. And our mind works similar to bees. Light attract bees and the white color on the website is just a bright strong light to our eyes. And it gives your more energy to your body. It's anti-depressing.
Didn't you know that if you are depressed really sharp white light can work like a medicine?
But of course this is not the only thing that this websites is so addictive, don't get me wrong. But behind the webmasters there is a many psychiatrists that know how our "easy" mind works.
And that's why it's so popular.

It has absolutely nothing to do with reaching out to communicate with others, or for the entertainment factor, or countless other reasons.
It is all about it being white!

This is true, if you think about it, people are used to websites with white background.
And if those websites would have been with different colors it would not be as popular. If you visit some website with annoying color what is the first thing you want to do, you want to leave!
