I just spent HOURS going over and changing Mr Anok's resume and found a job to send it too.

If, and that's a big IF, they call him back I will be eccstatic. It's a great job, great pay, in a lower cost of living state. In fact, if he can get the job, he will be making twice as much as he does now, but we will be moving to a state that costs a fraction of what we pay here.

And I'm thinking the schools are better, and the crime is lower, too.

The only draw back is tat it will take us away from our support network, here. No family, no friends, no babysitters, no help. However, we will be able to afford to live. So.. you know...

Cross your fingers, your eyes, your toes - prayer and positive thoughts are welcome.

Good luck. I hope he gets the job!

(Or is it more of a career than a job?)
    1. Anok
      It could be a career.

Lots of luck, wishing you the best, sometimes a move will create a whole new way of life beside the financial benefits.

I'm working on my resume right now, just got informed last night that my company will no longer continue come Monday. So, it's time for me to move on as well. I knew it was coming and I hope better things are ahead. I was stuck in a dead end job anyway.
    1. Anok
I'm sorry to hear that your company will be no more (and thus your job) but I think your positive attitude about it rocks. Yep, sometimes what you need is a fresh start!

Anok--I wish you all the best of course. I am sending out positive energy to Mr. Anok and the potential employer that he will hire him!

What state might you be moving to? OH! I just saw might be moving to Maine. It's so beautiful there! We have a summer place up there! You can visit us there too!
    1. Anok
Well, if he gets hired we'll be going to Maine. I've always wanted to live there, so it's a bonus for both of us

We started looking at houses up there sometime last year, and man - are they affordable! It's just finding employment that's the problem - that's why it would totally rock my socks if he got this job!
    2. melindaville
Maine is WAY cheaper than MA--you can buy homes up there for much less also.

Where in Maine would you be moving to? I'm just thinking that you could stay in our house until you found your own. It's empty most of the time. I'm serious. We're pretty far up the coast, but it is a possibility. Our place is way up in Gouldsboro Bay--it's beautiful--right on the water but about 30 miles from the nearest big town (Ellsworth) and about 50 miles from Bangor.
    3. Anok
I'm crossing my fingers that we will be close to Lubec - but I'm not sure where the position is exactly. Probably Portland or Bangor. We'll see!

Oh! I just realized you meant you had a property in Maine! Yes that would be incredible!
    4. melindaville
Well, if you need a place for a few weeks while you get settled--give me a holler. We are planning to go up to Maine in mid-August--but then it will be empty until next May or so.

I am actually serious. It IS really remote--we only got DSL last summer (and it was out for our entire vacation a couple of weeks ago--although it is restored now). You can only get satellite TV too--we don't even have television up there. We have a TV for watching movies and such--but cable doesn't even reach our house. We are in the boonies!

Les's mom bought the place back in the 70's--when you could still buy waterfront property for next to nothing. It's only because of her that we have this place at all.
    5. Anok
OMG that is like - AWESOME. OoOoOooooh I hope hope hope he gets the job - it's just the little extra we needed to really make it work.

      WhooOOOoOooot!

Because I was actually thinking that if we had to, Mr Anok could go up and start working, rent a cheap apartment for a few months, and send most of the money back here, while we prepared to move, and looked for a house. That would prevent the separation bit that I wasn't thrilled about!

      *happy dance*
    6. melindaville
You just let me know. We actually loan this place out fairly regularly--in fact, people are up there now. It really makes us feel good to know that people can use this place. So, I am ABSOLUTELY serious.

And even better--we just put in all new appliances last month! It's a pretty nice place actually.

holding thumbs for you both (that's what we do in South Africa)although I cannot imagine spending a winter in Maine...
    1. Anok
That's neat! (The thumb thing). I love, love, love the cold so it's perfect for me. Punky loves the cold, too - although Mr Anok is not so thrilled about it unless we have ample heating in our home.

He's just looking for a more rural lifestyle, so that's the big selling point for him.

    1. Anok
Excellent! Hey, after the time we've had, we can really only go up from here on in..
    2. melindaville
When do you think you'll find out about the job? Any idea?
    3. Anok
I dunno - we just sent out the resume (electronically on Thursday), so I'm figuring if there is no call or contact by Monday Mr Anok should call and make sure they received the paperwork and application. That way we'll know if they're interested or not pretty quickly - although I'm sure there will be few interviews before anything is concrete.
    4. melindaville
I hate waiting for stuff like that.
    5. Anok
Yeah, me too. But you do have to give HR a little bit of time to find the resume, go through it, forward it etc... So a little patience is key - but you gotta make the follow up call!

(I'm not very patient though )
  16. ThriftShopRomantic
Good luck to you and "Mr. Anok" (snicker).
    1. Anok
Poor guy - one day you're all going to meet him, and the only thing you'll be able to think is "Mr Anok"
    2. ThriftShopRomantic
It's so true. He will always be Mr. Anok to me.
  17. shesgotculture
Crossing fingers and toes for you - best of luck!
    1. Anok
Awesome! I never could cross my toes...
  18. Shiley
Crossing all body parts that can be crossed.
    1. Anok
Excellent! So long as it doesn't cause an accident or injury or anything....

I'm so excited about this. *g*
    2. Shiley
      That body part doesn't cross.
  19. agapelife
Prayers and Positive vibrations on the way to you. Can't cross fingers- prevents me from typing and the cross toes - will prevent me from peddling. LOL
    1. Anok
You can type and peddle at the same time? Wow, that's talent
