I was curious. Of all the animals in the world, which do you like or admire the most and why.

For me, it's the tigers. I know. Not very imaginative. I also like dolphins quite a bit, too. They are intelligent and beautiful. But since I want to keep it to one, I pick cats. I like/admire tigers because of their personality, hunting ability and independent quality.

What do you pick and why.

Pretty much all the same to me. Humans are the worst I think though, we are the most wasteful and damaging animals of them all.
    1. voodooKobra
I have to agree with Morgan.

Though I have to say that bear are pretty awesome (especially when they eviscerate environmentalists and the other environmentalists don't do shit to stop it. Because it's a bear).

    Apart from the obvious

    Basic Wombat Facts:

    ********************
    Wombats are mammals.
    Wombats are marsupials.
Wombats are native only to Australia.
Wombats look somewhat like a little bear.
There are two basic kinds of wombats, the Common wombat, and the Hairy-nosed wombat.
    Wombats are nocturnal grazers.
They eat mainly grasses and roots.
They live in large burrows up to 30 meters (100 feet) long.
Wombats are extremely strong and very proficient diggers.
Wombats can be anything from a sandy color to brown or black to grey.
The average wombat is about 1 meter (40 inches) long and weighs about 25 kg (55 pounds).
Wombats can live from about 5 years to over 30 years.
    Wombats are generally solitary.
Most Australians have never seen a wild wombat

WOMBATS are so darn silly!!!! You'll laugh yourself stupid if you watch one for a while
    1. morgantj
Wombats are also part of the Diprotodontia. Descendants of the Diprotodons - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diprotodon

i thought you loved girl red pandas? i met a woman once that had a pet wombat. it was just like a pet dog. followed her around all day. she even let it sleep on her bed. around canberra, where we used to live there are a lot of wombats, haven't seen many up here.

Cats. All types of cats. Wild & domestic, big & small...
  4. kdawg68
horses and wolves would take the cake for me, but I love most animals - spiders would be one of the rare exceptions.
    1. acousticguitarist
      really, you like horses

      Mr Ed is nice
  5. SyntaxOfL
Chihuahuas.. Dogs that is, have two of 'em. They's rock.
  6. legbamel
Polar bears. I want to fly up to the Arctic Circle and feed them all, except that I'd have to kill other animals to do it. I can't even watch documentaries about them any more because it's all bad news and they make me cry.

See Jack is a man of wisdom and great learning.
    2. janeycatte
Maybe that's as far as he got in the animal encyclopaedia?
  9. DrowseyMonkey
Cats. They're cunning. They're so cute looking but they're killers. Gotta love that.
    1. 7masterheathen
So true, Drowsey. I admire their independence, as well. Dogs are too needy and eager to please. The can't wait to kiss their owner's butts. Or at least give 'em a good whiff. How uncouth! Cats are much more sophisticated.

      LONG LIVE THE CAT
    2. janeycatte
It's the quiet ones you have to watch
  10. daniel23
    cats. they have self-respect.
  11. chick
Check this out, it's an Okapi. I'd never heard of them before ... apparently they live a very secretive life in the African rain forest. I admire their ability to stay so low key in the animal world ... plus I dig their "leggings"

    1. aningeniousname
That's not an Okapi, it's a bisexual Zebra.
    2. chick
lol... apparently they're closely related to the giraffe.

    3. ekim941
      Put those zebras back.

      They're not done yet.
    4. aningeniousname
I think they should rename the Zebra the liquorice horse.
    5. DrowseyMonkey
lol ... I love em! They're so unique, and the markings are pretty much the same for all of them. It's fascinating!

    6. ekim941
I think the painter walked off the job on these two.
    7. ekim941
I'll bet when the zebra finds out that that horse took his pants, there will be trouble.
    8. DrowseyMonkey
Mother nature is a mad scientist.
  12. stilesjp
some kind of animal that's as far away from humans as possible. Maybe some kind of bird.
    1. DrowseyMonkey
Oh my, not an animal lover? And birds can fly...which means they can dive right at ya! lol But that does bring up a good point. Birds are cool ... it would be cool to be able to fly.
    2. stilesjp
      @Drowsy - oh, I'm a HUGE animal lover. It's people* I can't stand.

*most people, not all. Plenty of nice ones.
  13. ekim941
There's so many animals that I like Chicken, pork chops, lobster, filet mignon and bacon. Just to name a few.
    1. DrowseyMonkey
      ohhh...boooo, booo!
    2. aningeniousname
      It's true animals are delicious.
    3. ekim941
Pffft, if we're not supposed to eat them, why are they made out of meat?
    4. DrowseyMonkey
LOL. Ummm....that's what we're made out of too! Now be careful how you respond to that.
    5. ekim941
But I only eat women that buy me dinner first
    6. DrowseyMonkey
Aggghhrrr....I told you to be careful on how you answered that! Sheeesh! Thanks for living up to my expectations tho
    7. ekim941
I was careful, I stated my terms.

I wanted you to know that I have class and standards.
      Well, at least class.
    8. legbamel
Yeah, that's just about the least class. You can't fool me, though. Pork chops and bacon are just two names for the same animal, like burgers and steaks. Tasty, yes, but not two different animals.
    9. ekim941
If burgers and steak are the same animal, explain the price difference?
  14. Donlewis
Coyotes. Nothing stops them. Plus they're a deity, which is cool.
  15. timethief
    (1) The Horse is the symbol of Wind. Horses are likewise symbols of adventure, freedom and journeys. They teach you how to move in new directions and discover your own freedom and power. They are guides to overcoming obstacles.

    (2) The Coyote teaches you how wisdom and folly go hand-in-hand. In the folly of others, we see our own foolishness and we learn from their mistakes. The Coyote's howl touches the soul, reminding us of our primal connections. Coyote energy is tied to simplicity and trust. It stimulates and renews innocence and reawakens a childlike wisdom in the world. Coyote people are very adaptive to new situations and resilient. They have close-knit families.

These are two of my totem animals.
    1. Donlewis
And the fur is great too.
  16. kat822
    Why the cat of course
    1. stilesjp
if I were a cat, it would have to be with a single girl or guy... preferably a girl. and not old. not one that's going to croak on you, and then you have to eat her to stay alive until her friends or relatives check on her... find you 20lbs heavier than you were...
  17. kinsey88
This is the animal I admire most although I do not think of him as an animal.

Oh my gosh what a gorgeous animal. He looks fierce and kind at the same time. I enjoyed the Lakota Sunrise gallery. Just beautiful.
  18. CarolC
Three toed Sloth...just look at there sweet little faces...ooooooo lol cute!
  19. EavesdropWriter
I love elephants for many reasons. I especially admire their devotion to each other and their amazing memory that helps them navigate to specific watering holes years later, among other things. Elephants rule.
  20. howisbradley
Without a doubt, Otters. Play all day and lay back and eat food off their bellies. Who wouldn't envy that life?
  21. DarkAngelMe
a pig... They have orgasms for half an hour. Now who would not want that?
  22. genopianist54
