The trend in society is to focus on everything that is wrong with ourselves. We are bombarded with ads for weight loss diets and pills, creams for wrinkles and tans and longevity, self help guides for how to be better at this or that, etc... Everyone is conditioned to think that no matter what they achieve, they will never be quite good enough.

While there is always room for improvement in everyone's lives, sometimes it is nice to focus on the positive things.

So - this post is about what you are already good at.

What are you proud of yourself for? It can be anything...something you did that no one else has, a promotion you got, a degree that you earned, somewhere that you always wanted to visit and finally did....

People probably don't recognize your accomplishment/s enough, so here is a chance to pat yourself on the back for whatever makes you proud of yourself!

For raising three happy, healthy, responsible, well adjusted children. I know I sound delusional when I say my kids refuse to lie to me, or keep secrets from me but they really don't. They tell me everything, and have a remarkable sense of responsibility for their own actions, and a strong compassion for others.

I could fail at everything else in life, yet be content knowing I've done a good job with the three little lives that were entrusted in my care

Yes of course. Raising three responsible children in society is the great job, to me more great than to construct masterpiece bridge. Mothers are consider the most respectful because of this grand job, the paradise is situated under their feet.

I'm proud of myself for starting my blog. That's not an attempt at self-promotion, it's something I'm putting real effort into and I'm proud of.

I'm really proud that I quit doing heroin and cocaine after 12 years of hard-core addiction. I am proud I have been clean for 15 years (January 18, 1994!).

I'm proud I made it through college and graduate school and I'm proud that I am writing my memoir and going public with my experiences.

After years of negative self-beliefs and terrible self-esteem. I recognize these great qualities in myself.

So, let's all give ourselves a little pat on the back!

I have feelings, wow it's so good to be human and alive. how much in money terms is your eyesight worth, nobody reckons it. All the angst and depression I see around seems to spring from some force or thing that deprives us of one or more of our human facets.

I'm proud of the fact that I will be paying off my student loans here in just 3-4 months. After working hard for a year and a half, they are almost paid off and then I will be debt free.

i'm proud of the fact that i've finally written a book (it's not yet completely edited, but technically it's written). i'll be much prouder of myself if i can get it published...

good luck with that. don't give up if it gets rejected the first few times. lots of bestselling authors got turned down until they found the right publisher.

I'm not very ambitious in general so for now, my proudest moments are from my childhood when I had to use my smarts to get me out of unsafe situations. Like when trapped in a tree by a group of neighbor boys who were telling me they wouldn't let me come down until I took my shirt off, and began to throw spiky hulled tree pods at me. I told them if they turned around for ONE MINUTE and didn't look I would do it. When they turned around I jumped out of the tree and took off on my bike.
I wrote a few articles about other similar things around the same time/age and you can read them here: www.angelsezine.com/2009/01/23/smart-like-fox/ if interested. The follow up was titled Dumb Like Dog and you can find it there as well.

this is a good post because I tend to really get down on my imperfections. But I am proud of myself for many things. Beating cancer...going through chemo while pregnant wasn't easy. Going back to college after 3 kids. Missing a couple of years being sick but I will be going back in the spring to start the college for nursing to become an Oncology Nurse. I do many other things...I draw lifelike portraits. I sing. I am still in remission one year later! Yeah I keep going back to that but it's kind of big one for me. haha
