Ever since I've been blogging, there's been lots of memes going around. The most recent is the Technorati Favorites.
So I thought everyone might like to share the memes that they have joined, and if you want, you can leave the url of your blog post that has that meme so maybe we can join too..
Here's one that I joined a few months ago titled "5 things you didn't know about me"

I have never participated in those memes, and I don't think my readers would appreciate if I did. I don't think memes have their place on blogs that have an audience composted of professionals.. (whatever they work in))

Kiltak, very excellent point. In a professional blog, I have rarely seen a professional blogger join in. But there are some instances in which you may join if it is related and if it is well structured and conducted. I chose to do the "5 things you didn't know about me" since it was early on in the blog and I wanted the readers to know something about me...

Something that gains in popularity and spreads. It can be an idea, tune, joke, poem, rhyme, etc.
Blog memes aren't usually under the exact definition of a meme since it is usually artificially built up in most cases. These days, blog memes are usually those that tend to be sort of like a virtual tag of sort...
But other technology examples could be the youtube video of those guys dancing on treadmills... that gained a huge following and spread like wildfire.. -
I think it might be useful to join memes if your blog is new (to gain more exposure and linkbacks) and well the blog should not be dealing on subject like SEO and the like..serious niche...{like what Kiltak said).
It's the thing more for personal blogs...but I did join for the sake of variety of subject in my blog like Wordless Wednesday or Click and Comment Monday.
Yeah I think that's what memems for anyway...for bloggers to socialize and meet up every week according to what memes you choose to join. -
sexyinred, excellent point. The Wordless Wednesday one is also very nice. For those who don't know what that is, you can go click on the following link to take you there...

you know what...I actually haven't been hit by the technorati train. how do you go around doing that? it's kinda sad coz I do have a technorati account, but I don't have the traffic I need. any ideas?

btw...I forgot to answer your question. I've joined 2 memes, which means I've been hit twice. One was about music (polypocket.blogspot.com/2007/04/music-in-me.html), and the other one is about goals (polypocket.blogspot.com/2007/04/on-goaling-forward-tagging-game.html) kinda fun really!

well i joined a couple of memes, like the "why do you blog" one, and recently the "5 blogs you'd read" meme, and the "ultimate guide to productivity" meme, and a couple of others, i especially like "group writing prjects" since it's easy to make things relevant and keep things on topic. I try to make sure not annoy my readers
(hope i'm doing things right hehe) -
Marjie, the Technorati Train can be found here: www.doshdosh.com/blog-website-promotion/technorati-favorites-exchange/
Jonathan, I don't know about the others, but I certainly haven't been annoyed. hehe. Just keep up the great writing is all I ask =) -
I joined in the "7 weird things you didn't know about me" as a way of showing camaraderie with the two people who managed to simultaneously tag me. I did it as an addendum to my regular blog piece, so it didn't take away from that. I think occasional participation in something like that can build rapport.
