I am just curious to know what people are reading these days. I'm always looking for something new to read too.

Right now I'm reading the "Outlander" series by Diana Gabaldon. I'm on book 5 "The Fiery Cross". Highly recommend it. It's a series targeted toward a female audience so probably won't interest the fellas.

I read recently "Tales of the Otori" by Lian Hearn, and I enjoyed it very much.

Brief summary of the first book "Outlander" that started it all:

"The year is 1945. Claire Randall, a former combat nurse, is back from the war and reunited with her husband on a second honeymoon — when she walks through a standing stone in one of the ancient stone circles that dot the British Isles. Suddenly she is a Sassenach — an "outlander" — in a Scotland torn by war and raiding Highland clans in the year of Our Lord ... 1743.

Hurled back in time by forces she cannot understand, Claire is catapulted into intrigues and dangers that may threaten her life ... and shatter her heart. For here she meets James Fraser, a gallant young Scots warrior, and becomes a woman torn between fidelity and desire ... and between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives."

The Host by Stephenie Meyer. Totally different (and better IMO) than Twilight. Thought-provoking but hard to put down once you start.

Are you only interested in fiction-fantasy? Or are you open to other types? Then I can know what to suggest

'Achilles in Viet Nam' by Jonathan Shay ...probably the most important and most informative book available re: psychological impact of war on Viet Nam veterans. It's my third or fourth reading.

As a former federal prosecutor, I enjoy true crime and crime fiction. So, lately, I have been going through Stuart Wood's series about dashing lawyer Stone Barrington. No, this may not be high browed reading, but sometimes we all enjoy nice treats, too, don't we?!

I'm reading Angela's Ashes right now by Frank McCourt but I think this weekend, it's time for a Borders splurge - I want to own and re-read the entire Clan of the Cave Bear series by Jean Auel.
